Booking 2 different Airlines

I am having a problem finding "decent" prices for my April trip. The only way to book without re-mortgaging my home is to go with AC down (cheaper including the baggage fee) and WestJet return.

Have any of my fellow Canadian dissers ever had any issues doing this? Will the fact that I don't have a return trip booked through one airline cause issues with customs?

We have done this several times to save money as well. Flown down with Southwest and returned on Air Tran because they had the better price for the return (this was flying out of Buffalo). Never had to show proof of a return flight just when we would cross the border to fly they would ask us the purpose of our travel and how long we were (and sometimes where) staying but I don't recall them asking specifically about our flight on a particular airline.

Have you checked flights out of the US? You could try Allegiant or DirectAir from Niagara Falls, Buffalo or Detroit airport.

Unfortunately this isn't an option for me but I appreciate the suggestion.

I'm doing the opposite, already have my return flights from MOC to YEG booked with AC and a 15% off Christmas pin....waiting to book my trip down with west jet when the prices are a little better.....they have a better departure schedule I don't forsee any problems doing it this way, you gotta go where the price is best

Done it plenty of times. My most recent trip, flew Continental down and WestJet back up.

Were doing it in March. YEG to SNA via YVR on Westjet. Flying back on US Airways PHX to YEG.

Never an issue with immigration, as long as you have a return flight booked with any carrier.

We're doing just that in March. Flying on Delta from SEA-MCO and flying Alaska from MCO-SEA. It was the best deal doing it this way.

It doesn't matter who you are booked with, or how your split your flights. You could even travel multiple airlines one-way and it wouldn't make a difference.

You won't have a problem at all Our last trip we went down to Orlando on Delta, flew to Cancun on AeroMexico and then back to Calgary on WestJet and there wasn't any concerns through immigration (I don't think they really cared how you got to where ever you're coming from).

It did make us realize that flying AC or WestJet is totally worth the extra cost

We've done this many times as well. For us, it's more because we have preference for time of day with one airline going there and another preference with another airline returning.

we are doing that right now for our cruise in april we have our flight booked with AC to LAX but still waiting for a good deal for the flight back never had any problems with one way tickets

We're doing it in April - YYZ to MCO on Delta to go to WDW, then flying back via Direct Air, since my parents live closer to Punta Gorda when in Florida!

Yes -- we've done this several times and we're doing it on this trip too. AA down and Westjet back, and they were booked separately.

The only thing I'd mention is that you should have your return itinerary available when you go through immigration so that you can prove you have a return flight booked (since it won't show on your departure itinerary)

I have also done this several times.

I am going to Disneyland in Feb, flying down to LA on Air Canada and flying home on Alaska. I have never had any issues.

Just make sure you know which baggage fees go with which airline (ex Air Canada $25 CAD down and Alaska $15 USD home).
