I am so excited b/c we are actually booking our first cruise, but I have one TA telling me we want Deck 2, mid-ship, & another one saying Deck 7 towards the front is a great choice. I need to figure this out soon, so could you please help me w/ your experiences? We are a family of 7 (2 Adult, 5 kids age 5-15) if that makes any difference location-wise (obviously, we are booking connecting rooms!;)

TIA for any sense of direction!

P.S. As an afterthought, I read the great incentive to use Disney Visa for booking...Does anyone know if you can apply for it & get immediate use of it for booking? Of course, we've had app since it first came out b/c we own DVC, but do you think I ever got around to getting it?

I have heard a lot of people say they have really enjoyed Deck 2. If you are prone to motion sickness, conventional wisdom is that it is better to be further down in the ship and to wards the middle.

Good luck and happy cruising!

Hiya Dinseymom!!

We are just back from the 1/24 7 day Magic cruise. I had booked a cat.10, deck 2 for us. Main reason was the split bath, and also keep costs lower by booking inside (we really were there to sleep, change). It was myself, my wife and son (4). Here's my take -- if ANYONE in your party is worried or prone to motion sickness, the deck 2 cat.10s that are mid-ship mean less motion. (My wife has a tendency to motion sickness - but even with that concern, the ship has bonine for that, free at guest services.)

From a practical point, we were conveninet to elevators and stairs, 1 flight away from main lobby and restaurants, 1 flight up from the gangways for ports. And really, unless you are incredibly lazy, ANY elevator bank was close. Our cabin was 2583, just aft of mid-ship elevators. But during busy times, it was a short walk to the forward or aft elevators, too.

Hope this insight helps. By the way, we liked DCL and the cabin choice so much that we booked again on the ship for same category and section of the ship.

We have been in cat 10 on deck 2 for 2 cruises the last just 1-17. Our family had 2 connecting rooms 2137 & 2135 on our last cruise and they were great. The aft location was great to go straight up the stairs or elevator to the restaurants, topsiders or when the kids went to the pools. I really liked the deck 2 location.

Thank you for the replies! We actually did request Deck 5's secret porthole rooms, but there was only 1 left & we have to have 2:( ! Oh, well, now we're trying to figure out the next best scenario! So far, I'm feeling like Deck 2 is the place to be. LOL about rebooking the next cruise before leaving the ship! DH & I were just saying we were afraid that's what would happen!!

OMG!
We were in connecting 2137 and 2135 on our last cruise. Great location!

DECK 7 DECK7 DECK 7 IF YOU CAN GET IT TOWARDS THE BACK//that way you can have easy access to the "secret deck" at the back which will almost be like having your own private huge verandah!!!

We enjoyed forward Deck 7. We were in 7003 last year and loved it. It is forward of the forward elevator. We didn't notice motion any more that anywhere else. The officers offices were forward of our cabin so the hall was very quiet.

We liked deck 7(we are rebooked on board for the same location but across the hall-then upgraded to down the hall in cat. 5:D ) because you could easily take the stairs anywhere. We spent most of our time on decks 9-10 but could easily walk down the stairs to dinner, clubs, etc. The forward stairs were pretty quiet.

Sounds like you have every opinion known to man. Good luck. Anywhere on board is a great location.

We just did deck 2 cat 9 on 1-3-04 Western. We loved this location. Close to the elevators and easy access to restaurants, etc.. I went to the secret deck on 7 and found it to be extremely windy - don't know if it is always like that. I wasn't even able to stay! I would still go with Deck 2 if I had to make the decision again. Hope this helps.

Okay, friends, I think we're going with Deck 7 (7505 & 7507). I really like the thought of being able to use the stairs occasionally, but also Dana at micdan.com just beat our best rate by $111 & she offered these 2 rooms. I quizzed her, also, & she said people refer to the possible motion problem, but have never really experienced it. Whatever, we're going on our first cruise & we're pretty excited!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Thanks for all the input!!
