I just booked the WL, Woods view room, for 7/6 with my postcard rate of $129. They were also offering AKL, BC & Cont. Also, CM told me that is it now their policy to accept codes and rates that come out AFTER you have already booked for the end of the year. I have YC for 11/8 thru 11/13 at $272 with tax with a AAA discount. He told me when new postcards or codes come out in September to call back and give the new code or postcard rate and they will change it. Last year YC was $169/postcard rate in November, so I will keep my fingers crossed.:)

You know I asked the CM that. He told me they put names in the computer at certain times during the year and the computer prints them out. He says it's just the luck of the draw but I feel differently about it. I am a Florida Resident and Seasonal Passholder. We go about 3 times a year. I really think that the more you go the more they want you to. I try to always answer the questionnaires from the people taking opinion polls when leaving the parks. They have your name and address and how happy you are being there. So there is really no true answer so far I guess. I have been receiving postcards for about the last 3 years at about 2-3 a year. I wish I knew why to help you out.

If I may, what dates is that rate good for? Are you going to WL as well as YC or changing?

The YC reservation is with a AAA rate and I would assume you can get even better rates for the summer because Nov is a long way off and last year the YC was $169 in November. I am going to WL for one night July 6th with a postcard rate of $129 and that is a great rate for that hotel. The postcard rates are 6/23 to 8/24/02 but you need the code off of it that matches your name.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't looking to make an attempt at "sharing" a postcard rate. I was just curios about the dates the rate quoted to gage for the fall. We are going in Nov. and would love to upgrade to WL from a Moderate. WL is my favorite and my thinking was, if rates like that are offered in regular season, what will value be like?

signed,
Looking for any excuse to stay at WL

Perhaps we should start trying to keep track of the characteristics of people who receive a card to see what the pattern is.

OK - I'll start - We didn't receive a 'Postcard' per se (we've received them in the past so I know what they are), but we did receive a tri-fold card that was offering the AKL for $129 and it said that 'other resorts were available at discounted rates'. It looked like it was part of a Disney Vacation Club mailout because it was offering the 4th night free if you would attend the DVC sales spiel.

OK our stats are: family of 4, regular (annual really) visitors to WDW, typically stay at a Deluxe (not always though), Annual Passholder, DC member, last visit was in late November '01. Haven't ever sat through a DVC presentation before.

Indyfan....believe me if I thought you could use the postcard I would help you because every little bit helps huh? Forget the Disney Club mailout for postcards Bstanley, I am not a member and never sat thru a presentation. I don't think we will ever figure out this one:) But, let's see.....Fla Resident, AAA member, Seasonal Passholder, have stayed at every Disney hotel except for CSR, Y&B & Allstar Movies. I would bet the more you go the more you are probably put in the computer to receive a postcard because they know we are "suckers" for that Disney Fix.....:D

No, I don't think going often has anything to do with getting a postcard. I received the AKL for $129 postcard a couple of weeks ago, and I have not visited WDW yet (planning for Nov 2003). I have registered at the disney web site, ordered from Disney Store online and entered a couple of contests.

My question - Do you find that once you receive a postcard you continue to get them? I sure would love to get a great rate for our trip next year.

Lauren

I get at least 3 a year I believe. Could be the reason my bank account is so low:( .......but, you only live once huh?

I don't think getting a postcard has anything to do with how many times you have visited. We've visited once or twice a year from the past eight years and we've never received a postcard. I wonder if they are targeted at certain geographical areas of the country to beef up business from slow areas. I'd love to get one!

laureng:

We started getting Postcards in '99 I think and we have received at least 2 every year since.

Not counting this latest offer ('cause it wasn't a 'standard' Postcard kind of offer) we received one in February offering a moderate for $84 a night and received one last fall for the YC/BC for $169 a night.

We drive to WDW I wonder if that is 'interesting' to the computer?

I started planning our first vacation in November 2002 this past January. Within about two months, I got a generic "Code" postcard for AKL from $139/night. When I was on the phone with CRO, they told me they mail promotional post cards with certain codes to various parts of the country to track where guests are coming from and how many of them use codes. This particular code was one that appeared on mousesavers and in major newspapers across the country with a variation of letters in the code.
