I'm probably panicking over nothing but I booked over a week ago with Virgin for our holiday in 2006 and as yet haven't had a written confirmation. They haven't deducted the deposit from my switch card yet either.

Does anyone know how long is usually takes? I e-mailed them yesterday but haven't had a response yet.

I wouldnt worry as they do take a few weeks and they are apparently very busy at the moment cos they have problems over six hotels which means they need to find some guests new hotels.

That's good to know (though obviously not for the people whose holidays are changing!). I know our holiday is a long way off but there is only 1 day that we can fly on which is why we needed to book early.

Hi,

We got our confirmation invoice around three weeks after booking. :earsgirl:

Ours was 3 weeks as well. I also changed the booking and that took another 3 weeks. Its a pity the "Final Invoice" never takes that long to arrive isnt it?? :)

Hi I booked my oct 2006 over the weekend on the internet - but had trouble with my credit card. I phoned them up on Mon morning and they told me they had not yet programmed the computers to take deposits for the new bookings. she told me she would take the card details from me an manually enter them - it would take a few days to clear on the card. Hope this info is of some help.

to sevans 2208 - don't worry 3 weeks is normal, you should still be able to look up all the details on their website or call them and ask for the locator of the flight and flight number then you can prebook seats meal requests etc on their flight website (be aware their flight and holiday websites are entirely different animals!)

i booked with virgin to fly this april .. the only confirmation i have as such is an e-ticket.and with this number and flight details (date etc) i can go to the website and manage our flights.

This is exactly what I did. I rang Virgin because i'd heard nothing after my booking last month. They said they were minimum 3 weeks behind and it could take a further 3 weeks for the paperwork to be sent to me. I checked my locator number through the website and have managed to book my seats so at least its a definate that ive booked and am somewhere on their booking pages!!

I may be looking in the wrong place but I don't seem to be able to enter the booking ref with the end /s06. Perhaps their system isn't set up for this far ahead yet?

I booked my holiday end of january and i still dont have my confirmation.i did ring virgin they gave me a booking reference number.i tried to use this number to arrange my seats on the plane but it wouldnt work. i rang virgin again they arranged the seats over the phone.

Sorry I cant help you with that, I only know because I have been trying to change hotels and had to wait 90 mins for a response on the telephone last two times, and I was told by Virgin that they had to move people out of six hotels - didnt ask which ones.

I was going to ask - does anyone know the 6 hotels and why are they being dropped?

Thats your booking reference but its not the one you need for virgin atlantic. Its made up of numbers and letters, eg tz4bw3. You need to contact virgin (not sure if its holidays or atlantic) for your locator number.

My "locator" number will not work which means I have to ring them up, defeats the object of their online service really, doesn't it.

What is really scary is that on Thursday afternoon I changed our flights . . . an amended invoice has literally just dropped on the doormat. After 6 years using Virgin Holidays, that's a record! But still my locator number won't work.

I shall have to spend another 50 minutes holding on the phone to their blasted call centre in Bombay or wherever it is these days. The poor chappy I was speaking to on Thursday was either in training or in severe need of a boost in the English language. I was on the telephone for more than 1.25 hours trying to make a VERY easy change, but he couldn't understand what I was saying, and vice versa (not his fault really, but if companies want to outsource their call centres . . . . ).
