Booked with AAA already and then got 20% code ... is it a wash?

Hi!
I booked our trip for four for 12/6-12/13/2008. Booked with AAA and got about 20% off the 8 day rate. Then just got a 20% code attached to my name from Disney (since I ordered the travel DVD a month ago.) We would have to actually book our trip for 6 days (leaving 12/7 instead of the planned 12/6) to take advantage of the discount. (Again, only on the room.) It seems to be a $200 difference (plus cheaper because we would be staying only 7 stays instead of 8. I thought 8 would be perfect for 2 travel days, 1 day of down time and then 5 days in the parks.

Should I be freaking out about this? Or just leave my original res?

Thank you, Veteran DISers for your advice!!

:confused3

I just switched my package over to AAA. It remained the same price, so far. My TA is trying to get the price down even more. Keep it with AAA - you get a lot of extras from them. Coupons, discounts and plus I feel better knowing that I can work with 1 person on this as opposed to a computer or getting a different person each time, half of which who have no idea what they are doing.

I hope that you TA gave you the Disney World Vacations book for 2008 (it should have Minnie on the cover) - if you have it, look on page 9 and it will show you everything that you get.....

If you have any questions, let me know!!

For our trip in Dec. the 20% code was cheaper than AAA. We booked POFQ with DDP and MMyW (no hoppers) for $2100 and change, w/ AAA I was quoted $2600 same package. I'd call and double check the prices.

I booked through AAA first. At the recommendation of somone on this board, I then called Disney to see if there was a discount code attached to my name. I actually apologized when I called, since I thought I was asking a ridiculous question, but I thought it was worth a try. Turns out that I was entitled to 40% off on the resort!!! I don't know why, since we have not been to Disney since '97. I wound up getting BC for less than 200.00/night after August 10.

Did AAA give you the book? I booked with them over a month ago and never received anything? :confused3

Also what's this extra discount? where does it come from and how do I get it LOL!!:thumbsup2

Everyone has been so helpful on this thread! :) :)

I ordered the Disney vacation planning DVD on their website. It took a few weeks to arrive. A few weeks later I recieved a glossy brochure. Inside was the 20% offer with black out dates etc. There is a lot of small print, so you really have to look around for the details. Not sure how random these glossy brochures are. Getting in their system (like I did) seems to be a good first step. As for the 40% codes, not sure how some are lucky to get those. I'm thinking it is someone who has visited before but has been MIA for awhile? (Just a guess!) Good luck!

I suspect the magic words are in red above as to WHY you got offered a 40% offer. You're a repeater... but not as often as they'd like so they want to entice you to come back! And it worked! :rotfl2:
