I just booked the Swan through Dreams Unlimited for $159 a night (I know about $10 resort fee and $7 to park), it seemed like a good rate, is it? I liked the fact that it could be cancelled up to 7 days prior. I'm just concerned that when we check in we may not get as good of a room as if we booked through Starwoods site. Are all the rooms updated? I know that the view we booked would be non- resort, has anyone been upgraded to a resort view? Waiting for codes for April 22 + 23 was getting a little too scary so I decided to have a backup plan.

Some DIS members have suggested that presenting a Starwood card at check-in is a good way to increase your chances of getting an upgrade. I am going to visit the Dolphin in September and I signed up for a Starwood card for the sole purpose of attempting to get a free upgrade at check-in. You can sign up for the card on the Starwood web page.

It is a good rate. As a matter of fact, I could not even find the $159 rate that you got. The only time I've seen it lower within the last year (excluding priceline/hotwire) was last December for mousefest. If I could get $159 I'd stay there my next trip.

That is a great rate! I am a nurse and my husband is a govt employee and we both have AP's and the cheapest rate we could find for our Oct trip was $249. I can stay at BWI or Y&BC for cheaper than that! I would say you struck it lucky with that one! Enjoy!!

I think that's a great rate for a busy time of year! Congrats! I haven't stayed at the Swan, but when I win lotto tonight I plan to live full-time at the Dolphin! pirate: You will love the proximity to the Boardwalk, Epcot, and MGM, plus the beautiful views.

I'm glad to hear that I got a good rate. I'll definately sign up for the Starwoods card. I could have had either hotel Swan or Dolphin, but wanted the queen sized beds so I booked the Swan, hopefully that was a good decision.

emmabelle ~ just curious - did you book that rate through DU's internet site (dreamsres)? That's an excellent rate from what I'e been seeing!

That rate seems to be hard to get, especially for more than 2 nights in a row. The Swan rooms are recently updated and very nice.

Emmabelle-
We went to the Swan last year and are going back again this year. We had a wonderful stay and we had an Epcot view which was beautiful. The rooms were very spacious and your going to absolutely love the heavenly beds. Are you staying at club level as you didn't mention that?
Definitely sign up now to be a Starwood member so you will get the points for your stay. It will also be beneficial to show that when you sign in and depending on how busy they are you may get a free upgrade. Also remember that anything your purchase in either the Swan or Dolphin, either merchandise or food, can be charged to your room which you should take advantage of because you will also get points for those purchases.
Enjoy!!

I'm starting to get excited about staying there. I don't know what I'll do though if a fabulous rate comes out for the YC/BC, that will be a hard decision. I did book the stay through Dreams Unlimited's website, Expedia has the same rate for those two nights also. Expedia had this calendar thing on their site that shows when the rates are the lowest, it was cool. Once I had the Swan on the screen, I just clicked on "rooms and rates", then on "my dates are flexible". I did book a standard view room since it was considerably cheaper and that wasn't terribly important to us. I'm just hoping for an unobstructive view, when we stayed at BWI for Christmas week our view was of the roof of the walkway down to the busses. I had to either stand on a chair to see over it, or lay on the ground to see under it. Not very good. :)

emmabelle, what dates do you have the 159? so far i could only get apr 20 & 21for 159 and 22-24 at AAA 189.50.

oh, i also got a room upgrade through a code via mousesavers.com so i have a lakeview. i do have the starwood code so i'm hoping for a little magic maybe.. :wizard:

Why I was just at LTM Fri. nite. Actually I hate the mall, but met a friend. Well, you have a fantastic time at the magical world. ::MickeyMo

emmabelle - I can't find anything that says "my dates are flexible" on the expedia site - am I doing something wrong? I'm watching for discounts in october - I love the pictures and virtual tours they have on Expedia - last trip to BWV DH and I walked over to the Swan to check it out and thought it was very nice - looking forward to a few nights there during F&W.

Nope, you're not doing anything wrong. I just checked it out and it only goes through June 20. If you pick dates in May then you'll be able to see it. :)
