You read that right. An entire month at the Fort. I have always wanted to do this and had it slated for the 1st month of retirement. I decided why wait... not retiring but hoping that this month will be the first of many more to come!!!

Congratulations on both counts. Retirement is a great thing I heartily recommend it for everyone, Just ask our own Bama Ed.
Hopefully the weather in September for you is better than our trip in 2011. Way to hot and humid for us. We now go in Dec To Jan for a month as semi Snowbirds. Added time in the Fort is a great thing. We do a lot of just hanging out and the girls love cart cart rides and dog park time. Doing as a regular annual trip we have met and made friends with others doing the same. I will suggest that getting AP's is worth the add added discounts along the way

APs are on the to do list, assuming they come back in time.
We have been in July and didn't mind the heat that much. We picked Sept specifically because of costs.. No doubt i would prefer Dec>Jan weather wise but the cost of a site for a month during that time is steep... hopefully we can eventually shift our month to a cooler time frame.

How far in advance do you need to book to get a month during Dec/Jan..?

I give our TA our dates 2 years in advance. Price drop in early Jan. helps cost wise but this our big trip for the year but we earned it. We don't associate much with our families and those we do are 500 to 600 miles away so pack the Coach and the kids and off to Disney we go.

Coach as in Coachman?
That's one thing i have to figure out by then.. i need to buy an RV.. been researching for years... time to pull the trigger..

No by Coach I mean our Class A. When we decided to get an RV we were traveling with 2 dogs ( 95 and 70 Lbs ) and 2 cats so Class A was way for us to go. Current dogs are in same range weight wise, only 1 cat now.

Leaning Class A myself. DP or Gas?

Started with a DP but it was older Holiday Rambler that came off assembly line the Year Monaco produced HR and was made with parts from both that are no longer available. It spent more time in for common repairs than in our driveway. Getting rid of it was only option.
My DW swears she always smelled the Diesel and our Sky never liked traveling in it
Now have Newer Tiffin Gasser (36LA Open Road) Absolutely love it. worst problem is both dogs want to look out the doggie window so no room for my wife to put her feet.

If i want something within the past 5 years, i will have to go Gas... Late model DPs are out of my price range. What year is your Tiffin?

2015 we got it in 2017 Originally we were looking at one with 25K miles and when I went to website to show my wife it again found this one with 5K. Same exact model same price , picked it up a week later.

Congrats, mco65. A month is a LONG time. Bet you'll begin to feel "at home" after the first two weeks or so. :rotfl:

Bring your umbrella because I bet you know that September can still be rainy. But when you have a month, individual days aren't as big a deal.

Will you do a 10-day ticket? or do you have Annual Passes? How much time will be just Fort time (do you think)?

Bama Ed

IF APs are back by then, I expect to get APs.. if not, we are thinking 14 day passes. I expect to spend 1/3 to 1/2 of our time at the Fort. I am still working but do expect to take at least 1 week off during our month... Outside of that 1 week, our park time will be limited to weekends and week day evenings.

There are still many things to get squared away by then. Like i told Mike, I don't even have a rig yet.

Covid pushed our Retirement party month at FW to this November (with DD's 1,2 &3-DS's 2&3, DIL's1&2, SIL, 6-GK's, 3 RV's, 1 Cabin and 1 POP)

Then the month of March next spring at FW just DW and I, should be a blast.

Awesome. I have been in Nov.. once.. definitely a great time to go climate wise. What is the longest stay you have ever had at the Fort or any resort at WDW? For us its only 8 days... but i have done that many times and never wanted to leave..
