Should I write to Disney and enquire about a cancelation.
There are medical reasons to this but do not want to make a big thing of it, just would be happy to pay the additional monies for the preferred location that is not poolside.
I know some people on dis feel that the 80's is a good location without being in a preferred location, should I just request this. What's the best way of going about this.
Thanks

If you have medical reasons for walking distances then yes I would say ring and book preferred as they are normally a little closer to the main area but in my 3 experiences I have had 80's 90;s and 60's and all been great no longer than a 5 minute walk and none had pool view.
When are you going? If you booked direct with disney then you can ring and put a request for non pool view and a particular floor,I personally would not stay first floor(US ground) due to noise.
Pop is a great value resort and you will enjoy it no matter where you stay.Remember that they are only requests but I have been lucky and got most things Iv asked for as nothing too specific like room numbers etc:rotfl2:

well, if it's a matter of distances, then definitely make a call, they will try their best to accomodate whatever need you have.
But, you will be told that nothing can be guaranteed.

If you don't want to be specific about the "special need", then so be it, but you'll need to give the disney experts enough detail so that they can try to squeeze you in into a location even if it's supposed to be sold out.

Depending on your need, a preferred location might really not be a good solution.
For instance I have a condition that makes it very hard for me to withstand noise (yeah, ok what do I do in WDW then, lol :) ) but preferred locations are just too noisy and crowded for me. Still I have a Blue Badge and have a walking perimeter of less than a 200 yds, but building 2 in 50's is my favorite.

So just weigh carefully what you wish for. And if you are "eligible" you could also request an accessible room (but there again are on a first come first serve basis, nothing is guaranteed).

If Disney is unable to accomodate you at POP, ask them to be moved to All Stars or even at AoA in LM rooms (but those are far away from the lobby/food court)

without any further knowledge about your expectations (and reason for needing a preferred location - for that special need's purpose) there's no real way to give you any advice about another part of POP. Don't need to be too specific though.

We've stayed at Pop twice now and have had no problems requesting certain a block at check-in (50's lake view), i'm sure they will do their best to accommodate you :goodvibes
