Booked our next trip!!

I booked our next trip tonight! Yippee!!! Our daughter starts kindergarten in August, and we got her school year calendar today. She has a fall break in late September so we booked a trip! She'll turn 6 just a couple of days before we go so we'll celebrate her birthday while we're there. We wanted to go the week leading up to Christmas but all that's left at FW are tent/pop-up sites.

Here's the cool thing. We're looking into purchasing AP's. I called WDW to see how the AP discounts work on resorts (FW). There were not any AP discounts available @ FW that week BUT there was a AAA discount...so I saved 20%! Price was $589 for 7 nights and I got it for $471. VERY excited about that.

Topsail is my favorite place on the planet (I know that is tremendously horrible to say on the WDW boards - rest assured FW comes in a VERY close second). We have gone there every year since 2003, sometimes 2-3 times a year. They were fairly well booked up but we found a great spot in the horseshoe loop, which is our favorite section of the campground. I love the local dining spots there along 30-A like Goatfeathers, Elmo's Grill, etc. I just looooooooove that place. I want to retire there.

Have fun there on the 4th of July. I bet that place is a blast at that time of year. We've never been there for any of the summer holidays but have spent a Thanksgiving, a Christmas and a New Year there. Can't wait to hear about your trip too!

September is a great time to go to the Fort! Lower rates, lower crowds. Only thing that ever concerns me about September is it's the peak of Hurricane season. May want to consider vacation insurance! lol

We've just been digging out from the big snowstorm. How have you and Denise been, Frank? Hey, I'm think'in about buying a houseboat! Join me for some fishing sometime? BTW, got our next trip to the Fort planned for December. When are you going back?

Congrats on your travel plans! We will be there at around the same time. Maybe we'll run into you. I agree with railmail about the lower rates and crowds. That was a big factor in chosing our vacation dates. It is hurricane season, but I am trying to not let that concern me... What are the odds, right? I have always been a bit of a gambler.

Well, that's what we thought on our first trip to the Fort in 08. Well, remember hurricane Ike? It hit the day we left Kentucky to go down. Didn't think we would be able to get gas before we got down past Atlanta. Had to pay $4.79 a gallon and glad to get it. What a relief to pull in to the Fort. I told my better half that I didn't care if we couldn't get back home! Just call the boss and tell him we're stuck at Disney!! What better place to be stuck? LOL

Not sure bout our next trip,,hope we can go this year, if we do it'll most likely be between Sept and Nov.
