SO excited! I booked us for a week during October for Fort Wilderness. Was able to get a premium spot, with AAA discount in the 100 or 200 loop, SO EXCITED!!
So...everyone tell me what we need to know to make the most magic out of our vacation with three kids the oldest of which is 7!
Congrats! You'll love Fort Wilderness!!! October is my favorite time to go. The weather is great and the crowds are low. If you can make it to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, I highly recommend it. Its such a good time! Oh, and make sure you eat at Trails End Buffet at FW...the price is good and the food is great! Enjoy!
The Fort is wonderful, especially in Oct. We really enjoy going to the campfire and watching the fireworks down by the beach. Being it is your first trip to Disney there are so many things to see at the parks , you might not have much time to spend around the campground. Have a wonderful time.
I have to agree with michelle9343: you'll be so busy with everything else the World has to offer, you'll likely be OUT of the Fort more often that not! But, that being said, do try to take advantage of some of its offerings. The campfire program with Chip and Dale is fun, then the movie following. Also the fireworks from the beach, and don't miss the Electrical Water Pageant - must be seen once while at FW! Don't know if you're planning any dinner shows - Hoop De Doo is great but expensive for a family of 5 (I know - I've priced it!!!! ), but there is also Mickey's Backyard BBQ right there which is supposed to fun for younger kids.
You'll love the FW atmosphere! It's great to come back to after a long day in the parks.
Thanks so much everyone. We've planned it to where we have our first day, after set up, for the fort, and our last day, prebreakdown, for the fort. I must say I am nervous as all get out that we'll miss something!
Cakesnkids: We have our first trip to WDW planned for the Fort but in July and we are so excited also!! It looks like other than the months our plans are the same...the fort on check in and check out day!!
I'll come back and tell you all about our trip...yours will be cooler weather wise!!
ps: We have an Abi also...so unusual to see it spelled that way!!!
