We recently booked a 2 bedroom at BCV. We've never stayed there and are a little worried with all the posts talking about poor upkeep and maintenance at the resort. Another issue is view. We'd love to be able to see fireworks from the balcony. With that said, we wonder what the opinions are out there about BCV vs. BWV (upkeep, maintenance and views). Thanks all.

We like BCV, we own there. My husband is upset about what he thinks is the disrepair of the place. I didn't notice it so much. Maintenance has always responded very quickly if we noticed a problem and they fixed it right away.

I think that BCV has the least vacancies of all the DVC resorts, so it's hard to take rooms out of service to do maintenance. Plus, it's still pretty new, so it may not have the larger scale maintenance scheduled yet.

I'd stay at BCV and have a great trip. Only a few villas have a view of the fireworks at Epcot, so don't plan your trip around this.

Keep in mind that many, many people stay at DVC resorts and don't post anything here unless they see a problem they want to share. No problem with that, but it can skew the perception that the resorts are poorly kept up.

As for views, go ahead and put in your request, but don't be disappointed if they aren't met. The EPCOT Illuminations view is very popular so it might not work for you. The good news is that at BCV you can stroll over to EPCOT and see them up close and personal in about 5 minutes! :)

The place is a dump. Cancel immediately, err... Better yet, cancel the day after tomorrow (you don't want to be too hasty).

By the way, what dates are you booked for?

You'll be fine at BCV. Just keep a good attitude (ie: if you arrive looking for something to be in disrepair...you'll do your best to find it). Maybe I'm just not very observant, but I would never even notice a missing shingle or some of the other maintenance problems that have been noted in recent threads. I personally feel people have expectations of DVC way too high and it sets them up for disappointment. Especially people that have gone out on a limb to buy DVC and need to justify the purchase in some way. Yes, I know it's different w/DVC because of the big investment up front and the long term commitment...but everyone just needs to lighten up a bit and enjoy their vacations and focus on the good, instead of the bad.

Okay, Pollyanna will be going bye-bye now. :teeth:

OK, now you have me concerned. We are not members (yet), and are paying full CRO rates for August (but free dining :) ). We are also looking at purchasing there - even though we have NEVER been there. For the price it costs to stay there (or buy into DVC), I have to admit - my expectations are high. Are we going to regret this??? :confused3

Well, certainly don't buy before you stay there, but I have never ever been disappointed with any of my DVC stays. We've owned for 2 1/2 years. Our last stay was earlier this month at BCV and it was marvelous, and guests agreed.

They have a new General Manager, not sure if that will help but it will be a change.

High expectations are one thing, but unrealistic expectations are a completely different animal. With my post I was trying to get across the idea that when people go looking for something bad...they will find it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with BCV. It's just that many people think there shouldn't be a blade of grass out of place just because it's DVC and they have invested several thousand dollars. Let's face it: it's one of (if not the) most popular DVC resorts and millions of people have stayed there. It's not going to look perfect 100% of the time -- some people will just have to understand that and be happy with 99.9%. Don't worry, be happy!

We are BCV owners (only since 2004) and stayed in a two bedroom villa our first trip. The resort is beautiful. The room was spacious, clean and showed minimal wear. My daughter's boyfriend slept on the pullout sofa in the living area and said it was very comfortable-and he's at least 6' tall and 200lbs. We were there for a week so had plenty of time to relax by the pool. Sitting at Storm-along-Bay with a drink is one of the most relaxing things I can think of! You'll have a wonderful time. :)

Now I feel better ::yes::

We own at BWV and stayed at BCV for our first time in April. We had a great time. The room definitely had wear and tear. Expect it. I didn't feel it had anymore wear and tear though than any of the other DVC resorts and we've stayed at all but SSR. We LOVED the location. Even though both BCV and BWV are both on the boardwalk, the BCV is just SO close to EPCOT. We also really enjoyed how close the parking was to most rooms. So much nicer in that respect than BWV.

I don't think you will be disappointed, but it's not the Taj Mahal! Have a great time!
