Book your own package or use AAA?

I just booked our trip to WDW for Easter (yes, I know, I know) through CRO. We're staying at the YC with the dining package. I haven't done any price comparison with AAA or other sites, but have a couple of reservation questions?

1) Has anyone booked their vacation themselves, each component separately, e.g. rooms through AAA, tickets through Undercover tourist, etc? Was there a price difference? If so, how did you purchase the DP?

2) Which is the way to get the best price possible - direct through Disney or AAA?

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, the only way to get the Dining Plan is to book a package. To get the AAA discount on a package, you must book through a AAA travel agent.

You could get an online quote from the Disney website, then request a quote from AAA to make sure you get the best deal.

I actually got my quote from AAA yesterday on a AAA pk, without giving them my AAA number. The rep said she would only need the # if I decided to book. So I guess it would be possible to check out what the AAA savings would be BEFORE you were even a AAA member....

We always book everything separately, and we usually save quite a bit of money. We either use AAA or a pin code (When we've been lucky enough to get one!)for a discount on our room, and we've never paid rack rates. We buy our tickets through Undercover Tourist, and that usually saves us around $60. We don't do the dining plan because we figured out that we spend much less on food paying out of pocket, even with quite a few nice table service meals thrown in. DH and I like to share a lot of meals, and DD is not a big eater, so the DP would be too much food for us, and a waste of money. We've always been able to save a lot of money doing it all ourselves as opposed to a package, and I think the only way we would ever do a package was for free dining, or free park hopper/water parks and more option on our tickets (Like they did last year.). Even then, it would have to save us more money than we are currently saving to be worth it.
