Book Part or Waitlist All?

I posted another thread about trying to get a 1 or 2 bedroom at VGC. For the 1-bedroom, my 1st and 3rd nights are available. For the 2-bedroom, only my 1st night is available. I had waitlisted both complete stays a couple of days ago at 8:02am at the 7mo mark. Now I'm wondering if I should have done this differently. Should I book what is available and only waitlist the night/nights that are booked? Are the chances of getting a one night waitlist significantly better than a three night waitlist? Or then am I pulling myself out of the waitlist "line" and I should just stick with my original plan?

In general, shorter wait lists are more likely to be filled. (I.e. They won’t hold the 2BR day 2 until day 3 also becomes available)

Of course, this all depends on what you would do if the w/l didn’t come through. Would you still stay those specific nights? Do you have enough time to bank if you cancel?

For a WDW stay, I would definitely book what I could, then w/l the rest: I would then stalk the website to and book individual days as they became available, too. (And then change to a smaller waitlist)
im not sure if I would just book the day 1’s for VGC

When possible, I always book for my entire stay as soon as i can at the 11 month mark. Based on my points at different resorts, that will always mean a split stay reservation. I then have a place to stay for my entire stay. At the seven month mark, I may stalk and attempt to cancel from one and add to another. Good luck.

I do that for WDW stays, but this is at DLR.
