Book now or wait?

I just found that I can get RT tickets on Delta from San Diego to Orlando for our August trip for $200 each which is great since there's 5 of us. The only problem is that the flights are not ideal (either a late night arrival in Orlando or a red eye). They are workable but AA or even SW has better routes and times. So should I jump on these now or wait and hope I can get better flights at similar prices later?

Some things to think about....in the past are the fares for AA and SW around the $200 range also...are they direct flights? Sometimes coming in on the red eye is not that bad...the airport is less crowded and traffic is not as bad. With Delta you can check in at some of DW resorts vs. SW you cannot. Don't know about AA. Go with your gut feelings. Good Luck.

That is an excellent fare for non-stop on a legacy carrier.

I prefer a redeye from the West Coast when on vacation and have done that regularly from LAX and SEA to MCO.

i recently had this question answered for me by watching the fares for my end-of-april trip stay steady at a fairly low 168 rt on several carriers including sw and delta for over two months... then jump to over 200 in the last week or so. i bought them last night at 207 on continental after watching two of the three flight times i was keeping an eye on jump to 265 as they sold more of the tickets. i immediately bought tickets on the third choice. :scared:

i am not really kicking myself too much for waiting because i only bought two tickets so the damage is only 80 bucks at this point - but for five i would be very sad...

i fly often, and sometimes find fantastic lets-pack-a-bag-and-go last minute type fares but in general there is a point beyond which fares go up and don't come back down again. advance purchase and all of that. i just can't gamble a wdw trip success on hoping that i can get last-minute flights.
