Ugh! I can book SWA out of Long Island Macarthur right now for $79 each way. We're going the week of October 22. I'm so torn if I should book now, or take a chance and wait to see if they extend those great $49 fares that go through end of September. Anyone in a similar position, and if yes, what are you doing?

Thank you!

Great! I saw that too. I may jump on that offer, but I'd prefer Islip just b/c it's closer.

That is what we are doing also. We are going the end of October and are hoping for $49 flights. I have not even seen $79 flights for our dates for both ways, I have only seen it for one day, even when playiong around with days. AAAAhhhh!!! :guilty: I am going to give it until September and see what happens.

Anything under $200 R/T is a GOOD FARE. If you can get the flights you want out of ISP I'd book it and hope for the possibility of a future credit.

Are you more worried about the price? Willing to change airports? Fly out LGA or JFK? Fly into Tampa and rent a car? Then you might wait and see what Song, Jet Blue and SW offers.

ITA with Lewisc. Alot of people have managed to get the actual $$ back on their CC if the price drops and if not then you have the credit. To me 'a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush'. I would rather book now and hope for a better deal instead of wait and potentially miss out if the rates go up. I would be kicking myself if that happened!

Book Southwest now,if fares go down call them they will give you a credit. :Pinkbounc

You can use the credit anytime within 1 year or you can give it to someone else to use if you are not traveling within the year.

I am in the same boat - hoping for the $39 fare out of Nashville for our dates. They have offered it for the last 3+ weeks now for travel completed by 09/29/05. We fly out on 09/30/05.

I have posted similar messages on these boards over the last few weeks. Some have told me to hold out with Southwest until next Tuesday's email, 08/09/05. Not sure why, but that's what I'm going to do. Maybe the dates will be extended! Pixie dust to you! ;)

My advice with Southwest is to book as early as you can at the lowest rate you can afford, if you don't mind taking a credit toward future flights... After that, ***check early and check often for changes and specials!!!!!*** Subscribe to the e-mail updates and get Ding! We booked our flight for our August 14 trip in early June (leaving from Albany.) :hourglass

Since then, I've rebooked five separate times at lower rates, and ended up with credit totaling about 60% of the original cost!! The original round trip cost for the four of us was about $1155 (which was about what I had originally budgeted for the flight when we first started planning.) We ended up with $656 in credit.

Looks like we'll be heading down again in February '06...
