Book HOLDING points on Member site? Not allowing me?

Hi all,
I have 28 points that will expire soon. Trying to book a room within 60 days on Members site. Not allowing me. Do I have to call MS to book HOLDING points? If so.....I don't have time to hold on line. Will probably just lose them.

You should be able to book a room with the points, assuming the date you are trying is not beyond when they expire.

You just need to make sure the contract that has the holding points is checked when you go to book.
 
The box with HOLDING points from 2021 is not showing? But I have a notification from Disney stating they will expire. Frustrating but thank you
 

EDIT: my whining and confusion about HOLDING points. I will own it. I was wrong. I don't know why......but wasnt thinking clearing. I kept thinking I had to book before my Use Year (March) and was thinking by END OF MARCH. I even texted my husband this. A big "DUH" moment by me. THIS explains why my HOLDING points were not showing up. I was trying to book mid March. My points in holding expired end of Feb. Being that it is President Week......there is zero chance of booking but the very nice cast member looked anyway. So eating some humble pie right now. Farewell 30 points!!!! Sorry to waste the time of those that responded. thanks again!


I am still on-hold, but I can see the two rooms I saw in last 1 hour are now gone. Do I waste the next 40 minutes continuing to hold. The new system with park reservations and inability to use the Member site online in a manner we should (such as this).....all reasons I will never ADD-on to my Membership. Just too difficult to coordinate, I don't feel I have the freedom with my AP or points the way I did pre-pandemic. The value is not the same. Believe me....I fully respect the pandemic and all the changes that were necessary. But we should be going back to the way it was. This system just made me lose 30 points. Thanks all for the input!

I am confused. What is your UY? What does it say when you go to manage vacation points? Holding points will show there.

You will sometimes get an email that is generic to your UY about points.

Hi, my Use Year is March and I was mistakenly trying to book a room mid-March. Complete DUH moment and that is why my HOLDING points never showed up when I went to book the room. My error. My use year ends soon. Nothing available with Presidents Week so I just said adios to my 30 points

You would be amazed how inventory can pop up. I would not say there's zero chance of something opening up.

Are you able to do last minute trip? Keep watching availability. We have a 2nd home near Disney and when there we like to use our DVC to stay a night here and there to do parks and have drinks (stay at DVC to not drive home). I am always on the resie search looking for things to pop up and always modifying (hence why I have had holding points a lot lately). But I even got AKV club level studio last month and Riviera studio. Got a 2BR SSR for the 1 night we needed when we had friends visit. So don't give up. Also maybe look at HHI and VB.

The issues I had with using my holding points was modifying a resie that had used holding points. I twice had to call in to do that.
 
I booked holding points because I was afraid to lose them but if I cancel the booking I still have until the end of my use year to use - right? So I can wait until May to book them since my UY is December? This is so confusing.

Those will stay holding points so you can make any trip and cancel and still have time to use up before expiration

Holding points are kind of amazing to use once you have them. You can book anything you want and not have to worry about cancelling because they are already in holding. Just have to use them before the end of your UY.
