Are there book discussion groups online for various authors? And if so, would I find them by googling the authors name?

I'm currently reading Karen Kingsbury's "Redemption" series (on the 4th book) and it's really given me quite a bit to think about.. Although it's "fiction", the way the conflicts are handled really provides "food for thought"..

Anyone belong to any such group online?

Thanks! :goodvibes

Why don't you try googling it??

Because I would like to hear personal experiences from people I chat with here before I decide if I would be interested in such groups - if in fact they exist..:goodvibes

Google is good, but googling isn't always the "pat" answer to everything - KWIM? ;)

Hi C.Ann.

I've participated in a book forum, for my favourite author - Guy Gavriel Kay. The books are discussed and dissected, it's great fun. This particular website is a bit slow in between books but picks up again when a new one come out.

I have also seen various other forums for other authors like Diana Gabaldon and of course Jane Austen, but never participated in them.

Usually the author will have an official website with a forum or there may be a fan based forum. You just have to troll around a bit to find one you like.

Give it a whirl - it is hard to discuss books sometimes with the people around you, I find most are just not interested and, for me, it is easier to formulate my thoughts in writing especially if I have had time to digest what has been said.

I love Jodi Picoult books and she has an official website with a message board. There is a section for each of her books. You might want to google "official site of..." to see if they have one.

Thanks for the helpful replies..:goodvibes

I'm pretty much the only "rabid reader" up here, so there's no one to discuss these books and authors with.. I have a few favorites right now, so I think I'll see what I can find..:thumbsup2

I am not giving a "pat" answer. You asked if you could find a group by googling the author's name, I simply suggested you try it.

I did just that this morning - after receiving the other replies here.. Looks like it could be fun..:thumbsup2

....Looking for things to do to stay away from 'said person'?? ;);) Just kidding! I have enjoyed doing this, via the 'official' author fansite, as MM27 has mentioned. Good luck! :thumbsup2

Well that would be an added "bonus" - LOL - but really, I have no one up here to discuss these books with and I don't want to clog up the CB trying to do so..

I've never belonged to a book discussion group before - hope I can pull it off without looking like a dim wit..;)
