Book and Video Sales on Ebay

I'm curious....do most of you who are selling or have sold books and videos on ebay use USPS media mail? If not, and you use priority mail, do you estimate your shipping costs and post a set amount for postage?

Since I'm brand new to this, I also have a few more questions:
When is the best time to post, and how many days do you normally post your items for? What happens when I run out of "good" stuff to sell? I moved over the summer, so the contents of our closets and storage have already been "weeded out" DRASTICALLY! Do you all garage sale for "new treasures" to post on ebay? Any suggestions?

I've just posted my very 1st items for sale on ebay! I have 1 bid so far...I only posted 4 things. My other items have at least been looked at...is this a good sign?

Any advice for a brand new ebayer is appreciated!

I sell my videos and books on Half.com. No need to follow bids or pay listing fees, just a fee when the item sells. They collect the $$ and pay you twice per month, depositing directly into your bank account. I find that this is a better way to sell my old books and video tapes.

Half.com pays you for your shipping costs when the items are sent via media mail. Items which are "expidited" can be shipped via Priority Mail and the buyer bears the cost, not the seller. Half.com automatically adds the price of shipping to the buyer's final price.

Most items do not weigh over one pound and can be shipped anywhere in the US for $3.85 via Priority Mail. For items weighing over 1 lb., the rates will vary by zip code.

Media Mail is a flat rate to anywhere in the US. They still charge by weight but the prices are much lower. A package weighing less than 1 lb. ships for $1.42. If I were selling books, videos or DVDs on eBay, I would offer shipping via Media Mail. If the buyer needs the item "yesterday", you can always give them a Priority Mail price after the auction is over.
