Dumb question, I think.
Do most people get the flight all set before booking the resort ??

Thanks!!

Actually, we have always booked our room first, then get the air. I guess it depends on how early you make your room reservations. Even before joining DVC, we made our reservations a year in advance because we knew where we wanted to stay. I would book extra nights, covering any possiblities for air. Then, after getting the air booked, I could cancel a night on either end if needed. Now that we are members of DVC we book what we plan to stay. A few times, I have gotten a flight coming into Orlando the night before our reservation started. Then, I just get a room at a hotel near the airport. It has worked great for us.

We alaways book our DVC rooms first, then start looking for low airfares. Once we see any direct non-stop flights, Pittsburgh or Cleveland to Orlando or Tampa for $220 or less we book it. For summer traveling we tend to wait longer to book. For holiday weeks you have to grab them as soon as possible.

It's not a dumb question at all, pretty good one I think! I also agree that booking the room first is best. You can always change the room date if needed for free, but changing flight arrangments may not be as easy or free. I usually try to do both the same day, room first.

I've always done room first. For our trip last December, I booked the room in January (DVC) and the flight in September. For May, I booked the room in October and the flight in February, waiting for a good deal. For this December, I wanted FF seats so I got them in May, which was actually too late. I wanted to go on Saturday, but all the non-stops were booked (except 8:55pm), but they had Friday open, so we're going a day early and spending the night at CBR and moving to BWV on Saturday.

Last year I booked room first, then went to book airline and found it cheaper to fly on a different arrival day. So I changed my Disney ressie. This year I will do flight first. Good question.

I guess we are in the minority, but we always book the flight first. We have very specific days that we can travel, and it's during a holiday week, so we try to book the flight out as far as possible. Then we customize the room reservation to match. :):D:)

We do flight first. Our trips basically consist of when we can get good airline deals. For instance - we booked our upcoming trip based on the dates that gave us the best fares for what we wanted to do. Then, we booked our room.

I did flight first this year because I got a grat rate...
$109.00, round trip, ORD-MCO.

But then it was a hassle to get rooms we wanted,

I think booking rooms first ,then watching every day for airfare works better. Because I care more about where we stay at Disney and the price we pay there.
Saving $500 on airfare but then spending $1,000 more to get the resort we want is what happened to me.

I am booking flight first because I'm using skymiles & have to be flexible. I'm assuming I'll get a room in mid-January!
But I agree it is easier to change room ressie than flights.
