We can make out ADR's in 12/05 for our next WDW adventure because we have a resort reservation at the WL (Disney property). 180 day mark.

My DH is looking at the great Dolphin rates - and likes the location of the Dolphin. But the Dolphin is not Disney.

What happens to our ADR's made on 12/26/05, if we switch to the Dolphin in March of 2006 ?
The Dolphin can only do ADR's at the 90 day mark.

Will WDW cancel our ADR's made with our WL reservation in 12/05, if we move to the Dolphin in March of 2006 (not Disney, does not allow 180 day mark ADR's) ?

Are the ADR's directly linked to your resort reservation number ?

Basically you lose. If you are staying at a Disney resort not only can you make the reservation 180 days from arrival, but reserve all meals (except V&A CT) at that time. This is tied to your reservation number. When that reservation is cancelled all dining reservations tied to it are automatically cancelled.

However, all reservations can be made 180 days out even if you are not staying at a Disney resort. What you lose if the availability of making all the reservations at once. You would have to do each day's at or within the 180 day mark. The only way you could get them all with one call is 180 days from date of departure.

Dining reservations are not tied to reservation number. I booked a vacation package through Disney and made my reservations under that number. Then, because of the great deal, I canelled the first one and booked the same package through AAA, therefore receiving a different reservation number. Your reservations are not cancelled until you call to cancel them yourself. I still have the same reservations, they were never cancelled.

Was this before or after the 180 day rule went into effect?

This was before 180 rule, but after the modified 90 day rule for disney resort guests. Modified 90 day rule meaning making all ADR's for trip if you stay at a Disney resort. CM at dining told me dining and reservation office are completely seperate and one does not affect the other. Meaning, if you cancel your vacation reservation, this does not automatically cancel your dining.

Anyone can book 180 days out. I've read Disney is going to cancel the reservations of guests who use the 180 +10 policy and then cancel their resort reservations.

There isn't an automatic system in place but it's been posted some CM's are manually doing it.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the case. People change reservations all the time--and they're still coming to Disney during the same time frame. There's no way Disney is going to track all these changes and "cancel" people's ADRs. They're still getting our $$ for those meals regardless of when the arrangements were made!

ETA: I just called Disney Dining and asked this very question. I actually had dh call as well. We were both told that Dining and CRO are *not* linked. Further, we asked about if we cancel and change plans and were assured again that ADRs would *not* be canceled due to resort changes/cancellations as they are *not* linked with CRO.
