Book a DDP, then Free Dining becomes available?

If you have already booked a package, you can switch it to free dining without cancelling anything if:

The free dining dates match up to your check-in date
The resort and room category you want is available for your dates on the promotion (you can change to another resort/category if not available but you may have price adjustments)

Ive read everywhere that you have to call in to change the reservation and if there is availability left. But also see if you can do so online as well, you might have to make another package and then cancel your old one, you dont lose adr's as they are attached to you not your package

Not sure why anybody would do an online cancellation and rebooking when they can just call and have their current reservation updated, unless they are trying not to make an international call.

There's no reason to waste your time on hold unless you can't float the $200 deposit for a couple days. Book the deal and cancel the original. There's no penalty for cancelling more the 45 days out.

Sometimes when discounts are released the wait on the phone with Disney can be HOURS and room inventory disappears while you sit there on hold.

*ETA* There is a Modify option online, but sometimes it doesn't work. I have a room only reservation for March and the remaining balance is due upon check in. I tried modifying it this morning to add a night. It showed me that deposit amount due was $0, but when I clicked to finalize my reservation it kept giving me an error to pay the full remaining balance. I had to call in and have a CM do it.
