Boo to the Halloween on the Highs Seas Crew

The Grave diggers are always a favorite of mine.

I got some bad video of them too. I had a hard time making my phone focus on them.

Now the last time we saw this parade they threw out suckers at this part. Those suckers were the best things ever! They no longer do that I guess. I am not sure when they stopped but I wish they hadn’t.

And I yelled Regina!!!! As the Evil Queen went by and Claire laughed. (If you watch Once Upon a Time, then you know the Evil Queens name is Regina).

party125 by Jenseib, on Flickr

With the parade over we gathered our things, being sure not to leave anything. Gail and her family were going to head out. They were tired after a long travel day and Alexis was going on very little sleep. She is in competitive dance and had late practices the week before plus her school quarter was ending while we were on the ship so she had to do extra homework each night to have it all done before the quarter ended.

We said goodbyes and we went on our way.

Claire wanted one of the Halloween popcorn buckets so we went in search of one. The thing I don’t like about Disney is that they only sell these themed buckets at select popcorn stands and they always sell out early. If they are so popular, why don’t they stock more per night and sell them at more stands.

hallow5 by Jenseib, on Flickr

hallow6 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We had no luck and Claire was a little mad, but there was nothing we could do. The stand in Tomorrowland that sells them was closing up and I even asked if there was a way to get one and he said no and that they had run out earlier in the evening. Another thing….why close these stands up before closing? So many people were stopping here wanting to get popcorn but they were done making it.

We slowly made our way to the front and stopped at several stores looking for 45th anniversary merchandise, which was lacking. Claire did get a sweater she liked though.

party68 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We stopped back in the locker area to retrieve our bag. This is one thing I hate about the lockers….they are up front. So as the evening cooled off a bit our jackets were up front in the locker and we were too lazy to go back up and get them.

We turned our key in and exchange for the deposit back we bought a couple of pops as we were dying of thirst.

party69 by Jenseib, on Flickr

A few last pictures.

party70 by Jenseib, on Flickr

party144 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We headed back to the bus stop and I don’t think we waited too long for a bus if memory serves me right. Claire fell asleep on the way back but got up and walked back to the room with no issues…..Thank God, because she is too big to be carried now!

We got ready for bed and went to sleep for the last time at Coronado Springs.

And I yelled Regina!!!! As the Evil Queen went by and Claire laughed.

LOL. I totally would have done the same thing! Love Once Upon a Time. For our Halloween cruise this last year, I was shopping for a Regina costume. Love her wardrobe! I just couldn't pull it off. :(
We did have one guy that completely looked like Hook though. :lovestruc

Loving all the pics! We did not do MNSSP this year, maybe next year.

Lisa

Was it different?

It looked very different:

MVS489599.jpg

What a shame that they had run out of the buckets by the end of the evening.

We also were trick or treating each time we found a station. I didn’t think they were well marked at all places though and spots listed on the map were not exactly where the spots were.

I prefer how they do this at Disneyland with the treat trails. That makes it so much easier and some of the trails are really fun with added decorations, etc.

He remembered me and he said yes they did have the bag!

That was lucky.

Supposedly kids are not supposed to get motion sickness, but I know that to be a lie because as I kid I got it all the time.

I can attest to the fact that this is incorrect. I suffered from motion sickness very badly as a child.

The Grave diggers are always a favorite of mine.

They are mine, too.

It's a fun event and I wish I could go every year. I really debated once we decided to come in early to do 2 parties but with Mom with us, I knew she wouldn't want to do it.

OK, I kind of remember seeing pictures of that one too.
They always do with any kind of cute themed bucket. It's so dumb.

I wish they were done better at WDW. There were marks on the map and we found nothing in some areas, so I am not sure if we were just blind or if the map was wrong.

That was lucky.

YES! It could have be a night with tears if we lost candy or even worse....a phone.

I can attest to the fact that this is incorrect. I suffered from motion sickness very badly as a child.

Yes! I have read literature and even some forums where they say not to worry about the kids, and to me, kids seem to have it more than adults in many cases. I can attest to the fact that kids do get sick to.....as we had a really rough sea day and I witnessed some kids getting sick, unfortunately.

They are mine, too.

The whole parade is so good, but they are just amazing.

Oct. 22, 2017, Saturday, Day 4

As usual, my internal vacation alarm clock went off early. I got up and showered and went for a walk.

I hadn’t gotten any really good front pictures, so I went out that way to take a few.

There were a lot of joggers out and I was trying to stay clear of them. I kind of went off to the side where I was going to take a few minutes to call Skip and I noticed this jogger coming right at me. Seriously? Even when I got off to the side, they still want to come at me? Then I realize it’s cousin Katie! LOL

She stopped and said hi. We had not seen each other yet since they had arrived. Her family and Aunt Mary and Geoff had gone to the Mayan Grill last night and she told me it was really good. We chatted a bit and then she went on her way and I went on mine.

We had gotten a letter last night telling us when to have our bags ready for the cruise line to take, so I went back and got those ready to go. We let Claire sleep as long as possible, but cousin Abby was up and hanging with mom, so Claire eventually got up too.

csr5 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I went off again for a bit and took some pictures of the parking lot area which I hadn’t really done before.

csr163 by Jenseib, on Flickr

csr164 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I had a box of maps and some other small things I needed to send home to myself so I got that ready and took it up to be sent off. I had brought my box and prepaid the shipping label at home and it really is nice to get those sent off and not to have to worry about lugging them home in my suitcase.

I then headed back to the room and got Claire and we went and got some breakfast. I think today I got the chocolate muffin but I didn’t take a picture, so maybe not? LOL. The family was all trickling in and getting food as well. We had a couple of tables near each other, kind of by accident and as some of us finished others would take our places.

After we ate, we headed back to the room to finish up whatever it was we needed to do and gathered our carry-on bags.

We decided to move up towards the lobby area now to get ready for our next adventure. We stopped outside and grabbed a table. Soon Gail’s family arrived and planted themselves down too. Then Aunt Mary and Geoff and Katie and her family too.

Everyone was excited and ready to cruise.

Alexis took a liking to Violet and vice versa!

alexis by Jenseib, on Flickr

We texted Amanda, Laura and Jan to let them know the approximate time we were supposed to leave so that they could coordinate their bus ride from MCO and hopefully arrive close to the same time.

After some chatting, we moved inside and it was time to check in with a few CM’s to give our names. We let them know we had a party of 15.

We waited around near the fountain and I guess in all the excitement of being ready to get this vacation started, none of us took any pictures.

I had been on a cruise group on social media and I knew several people were staying at CSR, but I really didn’t recognize anyone for the most part. I did see a guy who I think was in the group, but there was so much going on that I didn’t go up to him and ask.

After everyone was checked in they finally had us line up outside. We had so many people that they had 2 buses for us.

As we got closer and closer, they said they had 2 big parties and asked for us. At first they were going to put us on bus 1, but it was filling up too fast so they directed us to bus 2. It was a little chaotic, mainly because people were trying to cut and putting their bags to be loaded before they were confirmed on a bus.

boarding22 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We were the first to load onto bus 2, which was fine. I think some people felt like bus 2 was a punishment. LOL.

We all were seated pretty close to the front.

boarding24 by Jenseib, on Flickr

boarding12 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And soon we were rolling!!! This was my first time using Disney transfers and it was pretty easy. The ONLY bad thing was that we got to the port a little later than I like. I liked to get on the ship as early as possible and using the buses from the resorts just won’t get you there early.

Katie said this was the smoothest transition she has ever done. She normally rents a van or uses a transfer company or a combination of both and she says putting car seats in the van is so stressful. She loved that she didn’t have to mess with those nor did she have to keep track of the luggage as well.

Somebody had a late night and needed a little catnap on the way.

abby by Jenseib, on Flickr

We watched the movie thing, but honestly I don’t really remember what it was about. I think they had on cartoons too.

As we got closer I knew where to look and finally got our first glimpse of the Fantasy! Straight ahead …..and blurry!

Just read the whole report, so far, I love it!! I can't wait to see the cruise portion!:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Thanks. I am getting closer to the cruise portion now!!!

Yeah, that's how I am often too. We mean to get something and remember after we leave. We also planned for dole whip floats and missed out on that too.

We are so excited for the Spring season to start. We are always antsy when they take several months off between. We often rewatch past seasons on DVD. LOL.
I hate when they take so much time off because I forget what happens! We end up eye guzzling the last season right before it starts too! LOL

Excited for the cruise portion to start! :yay:

We always buy the DVD's of each season and I hate waiting for the current season to be released...which typically is Aug. I do try to DVR them when I think about it.

The Carnival Magic was in port too.

The way into the port really winds around, so you get super excited seeing your ship from many angles…and my pictures may have been out of order. LOL

We parked and then had to wait till we would be allowed off. Several buses had just arrived and they like to keep it orderly.

port1 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Amanda had been texting us while we were on the way, and my best guess was they were about 10 minutes ahead of us.

port2 by Jenseib, on Flickr

port3 by Jenseib, on Flickr

As we sat there waiting for our bus to be given the ok we saw Aunt Laura walk by, then Jan, then Amanda! I quickly texted Amanda to let her know she just walked by our bus, but she wasn’t looking at her phone, so she didn’t see it for several minutes.

Finally they let us off the bus and we grabbed our carryons and they told us the line was shorter if we walked around the building and entered from over there.

port4 by Jenseib, on Flickr

They lied. The line was actually longer, but it still moves fairly fast and soon we were through security and on our way up to the terminal.

boarding25 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And it did not have many people in there.

port5 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We got right in line for the Castaway Club members and got checked in. This was my first cruise being a Gold member and I got the gold lanyard for the first time! Claire has 1 more after this one yet to be Gold I believe.

Most of us have cruised with Disney before, but Laura and Jan were the only ones who had no one in their room that was a club member so they had to go through the regular line, however that line was nonexistent as well.

Gail’s family getting checked in!!!

port6 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And while we waited, we took some terminal pictures.

boarding16 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Time to fling our hair!

boarding17 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Jan was so funny because he was really into seeing all this Mickey Mouse stuff. Like I said before, Jan and Laura are not Disney fans and usually sail lines like Silver Seas and Crystal, but Jan was really having fun with all this theming and he took quite a few pictures. Jan grew up in Poland and has a pretty thick accent, so it’s always funny to hear him say the character names with his thick accent. (and Jan’s name is pronounce Yon).

port7 by Jenseib, on Flickr

port8 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Jan went to have a seat while we waited for everyone.

boarding18 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We seemed to have lost Katie and family….but we spotted them way down there…checking the kids into the club.

port10 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I just took more pictures while we waited.

And then it was time to walk through those Mickey ears and swipe in!!!!!

We stopped off to get a boarding photo as a group and the photographer said she could not take a picture with that many people. I think she said her max was 12. I told her we had no problem squishing together and we have done it before and she relented.

She took like 3 or 4 and in every one of them except one there is someone blinking and not just a little blink, a major full on closed eyes dumb look blink.

This is the best of the bunch, but of course this is the only picture where Violets not looking at the camera too.

Time to board that ship!!!!!!

Gail's family looks great as The Incredibles

The redhead and pirate costume pair sound cool! I love the costumes people come up with for the party. I just knew there was no way Disney was going to not allow costumes.

The castle stage show looks great. It's one of the things I look forward to seeing next time we make it down.

I can't believe Claire hadn't ridden Space before. I hope she loved it enough to keep riding it in the future.

That's too funny about the guy with you in line who was just sure they would be able to eat at CP. I was sort of wishing you had followed him over there just to see! :p Although I can't imagine they weren't turned away.

Love the Tweedle/Queen meet! They are always so much fun.

The shots with Cruella are priceless! Tell Claire I said they were worth all her discomfort wearing the wig!

So glad you found Gail's bag! I'm always paranoid I'm going to leave something lay somewhere. We left a backpack on a bench once many years ago, and that was really stressful!

That stinks about the popcorn bucket. He really was a good looking one too! We have the one with the purple vest, and the Haunted Mansion Mickey, but this year's version would sure look great in the collection! Next time tell Claire if she wants one she has to run it back to the front of the park and put it in the locker.

Wow great updates.

The Halloween party looked like lots of fun. Your costumes were great. I'm glad Claire got to do a little Disney before the Cruise.

Boarding the ship is just the best. Your whole week lies ahead. I want to go back.

It was super easy and they looked great!

The redhead and pirate costume pair sound cool! I love the costumes people come up with for the party. I just knew there was no way Disney was going to not allow costumes

One of the fun things about the party is seeing the costumes others dress up as. I am never super adventurous or creative. And Claire was embarrassed with just this. Maybe some day we'll go all out.

The castle stage show looks great. It's one of the things I look forward to seeing next time we make it down

We rarely stop for those so it was nice to see a bit of it.

I can't believe Claire hadn't ridden Space before. I hope she loved it enough to keep riding it in the future.

I think last trip we talked about it, but in the end she decided not too, though I can't remember why. There was another time I had paper fastpasses for it and she declined because Skip wanted to do something else instead.

That's too funny about the guy with you in line who was just sure they would be able to eat at CP. I was sort of wishing you had followed him over there just to see! :p Although I can't imagine they weren't turned away.

I know. Had I had time, I probably would have followed him. LOL

Love the Tweedle/Queen meet! They are always so much fun.

I was a fun meet. The kids didn't understand that this was rare.

The shots with Cruella are priceless! Tell Claire I said they were worth all her discomfort wearing the wig!

It was a great meet and I think in the end she was happy with it.

So glad you found Gail's bag! I'm always paranoid I'm going to leave something lay somewhere. We left a backpack on a bench once many years ago, and that was really stressful!

Well we have been known to lose things here and there too. I am glad we actually found it this time.

Well a spoiler alert......we came home with one!

Absolutely amazing photographs.

Thanks

The Halloween party looked like lots of fun. Your costumes were great. I'm glad Claire got to do a little Disney before the Cruise.

Yes, she was happy with the little bit of time, but grumbled that she wanted more time. The funny thing is she told me no more cruising till she gets a chance to go back to WDW. Ok...well there is a chance we may have a cruise in the future and I gave her the choice and she picked the cruise. LOL.

Boarding the ship is just the best. Your whole week lies ahead. I want to go back.

It really is. It's so exciting and you can't wait to do all the planned activities plus see what is offered each day.

Just read your entire trip report.. Loving it! We also did the Halloween on the High Seas on Halloween 2015. It was amazing.. Can't wait to read more of your report! Keep it coming!

Great update! Love that you all squeezed in! We did that once, the photographer was amazed she got all of us in it! I cannot believe how empty the terminal was! Most people must have already been on the boat.

Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
