Boo-hoo songs

This is the Day This was my son Michaels favorite song. We sang it at his funeral

This is the day this is the day
that the Lord has made that the Lord has made
We will rejoice we will rejoice
And be glad in it and be glad in it
This is the day that the Lord has made we will rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day this is the day that the Lord has made

"Who You'd Be Today"
Kenny Chesney

Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
I feel you everywhere I go.
I see your smile, I see your face,
I hear you laughin' in the rain.
I still can't believe you're gone.

It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who'd you be today?

Would you see the world? Would you chase your dreams?
Settle down with a family,
I wonder what would you name your babies?
Some days the sky's so blue,
I feel like I can talk to you,
An' I know it might sound crazy.

It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who you'd be today?

Today, today, today.
Today, today, today.

[Instrumental Break]

Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
The only thing that gives me hope,
Is I know I'll see you again some day.

Some day, some day, some day.

AND

[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=+1]Concrete Angel
Martina McBride

She walks to school with the lunch she packed,
Nobody knows what she's holding back,
Wearing the same dress she wore yesterday,
She hides the bruises with the linen and lace.

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask,
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask,
Bearing the burden of a secret storm,
Sometimes she wishes she was never born.

Through the wind and the rain she stands hard as a stone,
In a world that she can't rise above,
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved,
Concrete Angel.

Somebody cries in the middle of the night,
The neighbors hear but they turn out their light,
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate,
When mornin' comes it'll be too late.

Through the wind and the rain she stands hard as a stone,
In a world that she can't rise above,
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved,
Concrete Angel.

A statue stands in a shaded place,
An angel girl with an upturned face,
A name is written on a polished rock,
A broken heart that the world forgot.

Through the wind and the rain she stands hard as a stone,
In a world that she can't rise above,
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved,
Concrete Angel.

I'm all teary just reading these songs. Every single one of them makes me cry. I'm such a baby. Right now whenever I hear "Skin" by Rascal Flatts I have to turn it off because I just fall to pieces.

And "Sombodys Hero" is a favorite (see my sig)

Sobbing, I went to the store to buy the soundtrack to this movie right after it let out. Are you talking about "Shine Your Light" by Robbie Robertson? Here's the lyrics:

The cry of the city like a siren's song
Wailing over the rooftops the whole night long
Saw a shooting star like a diamond in the sky
Must be someone's soul passing by

These are the streets
Where we used to run where your Papa's from
These are the days
Where you become what you become
These are the streets
Where the story's told
The truth unfolds
Darkness settles in

Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so i can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength
To carry on, carry on

Don't wanna be a hero
Just an everyday man
Trying to do the job the very best he can
But now it's like living on borrowed time
Out on the rim, over the line
Always tempting fate like a game of chance
Never wanna stick around to the very last dance
Sometimes i stumble and take a hard fall
Loose(?) hold your grip off the wall

Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so i can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength to carry on
Carry on

I thought i saw him walking by the side of the road
Maybe trying to find his way home

He's here but not here
He's gone but not gone
Just hope he knows if I get lost

Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so i can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength to carry on
To carry on

Is this it? If so, I agree!!!!

The Greatest Man

The greatest man I never knew
Lived just down the hall
And everyday we said hello
But never touched at all
He was in his paper
I was in my room
How was I to know he thought I hung the moon
The greatest man I never knew
Came home late every night
He never had too much to say
Too much was on his mind
I never really knew him
Oh and now it seems so sad
Everything he gave to us took all he had
Then the days turned into years
And the memories to black and white
He grew cold like an old winter wind
Blowing across my life
The greatest words I never heard
I guess I'll never hear
The man I thought would never die
He's been dead almost a year
He was good in business
But there was business left to do
He never said he loved me
Guess he thought I knew :sad2:

Angels Among Us by Alabama especially the chorus where the kids sing,

I definately agree with Don't Take the Girl

Streets Of Heaven
Sherrie Austin, Artist

Hello God, it's me again. 2:00 a.m., Room 304.
Visiting hours are over, time for our bedside tug of war.
This sleeping child between us may not make it through the night.
I'm fighting back the tears as she fights for her life.
Well, it must be kind of crowded,
On the streets of Heaven.
So tell me: what do you need her for?
Don't you know one day she'll be your little girl forever.
But right now I need her so much more.
She's much too young to be on her own;
Barely just turned seven.
So who will hold her hand when she crosses the streets of Heaven?

Tell me God, do you remember the wishes that she made,
As she blew out the candles on her last birthday cake?
She wants to ride a pony when she'd big enough.
She wants to marry her Daddy when she's all grown up.

Well, it must be kind of crowded,
On the streets of Heaven.
So tell me: what do you need her for?
Don't you know one day she'll be your little girl forever.
But right now I need her so much more.
She's much too young to be on her own;
Barely just turned seven.
So who will hold her hand when she crosses the streets of Heaven?

Lord, don't you know she's my angel
You got plenty of your own
And I know you hold a place for her
But she's already got a home
Well I don't know if you're listening'
But praying is all that's left to do
So I ask you Lord have mercy, you lost a son once too

And it must be kind of crowded,
On the streets of Heaven.
So tell me: what do you need her for?
Don't you know one day she'll be your little girl forever.
But right now I need her so much more.
Lord, I know once you've made up your mind,
There's no use in begging'.
So if you take her with you today, will you make sure she looks both ways,
And would you hold her hand when she crosses the streets of Heaven.

The streets of Heaven.

John Micheal Montgomery The Little Girl

Her parents never took the young girl to church
Never spoke of His name
Never read her His word
Two non-believers walking lost in this world
Took their baby with them
What a sad little girl

Her daddy drank all day and mommy did drugs
Never wanted to play
Or give kisses and hugs
She'd watch the TV and sit there on the couch
While her mom fell asleep
And her daddy went out

And the drinking and the fighting
just got worse every night
Behind their couch she'd be hiding
Oh what a sad little life
And like it always does, the bad just got worse
With every slap and every curse
Until her daddy in a drunk rage one night
Used a gun on her mom and then took his life

And some people from the city took the girl far away
To a new mom and dad
And kisses and hugs everyday
Her first day of Sunday school the teacher walked in
And a small little girl
Stared a picture of Him

She said I know that man up there on that cross
I don't know His name
But I know He got off
He was there in my old house
and held me close to His side
As I hid there behind our couch
The night that my parents died

And the one that gets me every time, because my brother died of the same cancer his dad died from, and this is why he wrote the song..Tim McGraw...Live Like You Were Dying.

Ridin with Private Andrew Malone by David Ball

http://www.minibite.com/america/malone.htm

I was just out of the service thumbing through the classifieds
When an ad that said old Chevy some how caught my eye
The lady didn't know the year or even if it ran
But I had that thousand dollars in my hand

It was way back in the corner of this old ramshackle barn
With thirty years of dust and dirt on that green army tarp
When I pulled the cover off it took away my breath
What she'd called a Chevy was a sixty six corvette

I felt a little guilty as I counted out the bills
But what a thrill I got when I sat behind the wheel
I opened up the glove box and that's when I found the note
The date was nineteen sixty six and this is what he wrote

He said my name is Private Andrew Malone
If you're reading this then I didn't make it home
But for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
This car was once a dream of mine now it belongs to you
And though you may take her and make her your own
You'll always be riding with Private Malone

Well it didn't take me long at all I had her running good
I love to hear those horses thunder underneath her hood
I had her shining like a diamond and I'd put the rag top down
All the pretty girls would stop and stare as I drove her through town

The buttons on the radio didn't seem to work quite right
But it picked up that oldie show especially late at night
I'd get the feeling sometimes if I turned real quick I'd see
A soldier riding shotgun in the seat right next to me

It was a young man named Private Andrew Malone
Who fought for his country and never made it home
But for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
This car was once a dream of his back when it was new
He told me to take her and make her my own
And I was proud to be riding with Private Malone

One night it was raining hard I took the curve too fast
I still don't remember much about that fiery crash
Someone said they thought they saw a soldier pull me out
They didn't get his name but I know without a doubt

It was a young man named Private Andrew Malone
Who fought for his country and never made it home
But for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
This car was once a dream of his back when it was new
I know I wouldn't be here if he hadn't tagged along
Oh thank God I was riding with Private Malone

It's hokey but this one always gets me.....

Honey by Roger Miller

See the tree how big it's grown but friend it hasn't been too long it wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad the first day that she planted it was just a twig
The first snow came and she ran out to brush the snow away so it wouldn't die
Came running in all excited slipped and almost hurt herself and i laughed till i
cried

She was always young at heart kinda dumb and kinda smart i loved her so
And i surprised her with a puppy kept me up all christmas night two years ago
And it would sure embarrass her when i came in from working late cause i would know
That she'd been sittin' there and cryin' over some sad and silly late late show

And honey i miss you and i'm being good and i'd love to be with you if only i could

She wrecked the car and she was sad and so afraid that i'd be mad
But what the heck
Though i pretended hard to be guess you could say she saw through me
And hugged my neck
I came home unexpectedly and caught her crying needlessly in the middle of the day
And it was in the early spring when flowers bloom and robins sing she went away

And honey i miss you and i'm being good and i'd love to be with you if only i could

One day when i wasn't home when she was there and all alone the angels came
Now all i have is memories of honey and i wake up nights and call her name
Yes now my life's an empty stage where honey lived and honey played and love grew up
And a small cloud passes overhead and cries down on the flower bed that honey loved

And see the tree how big it's grown but friend it hasn't been too long it wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad the first day that she planted it was just a twig

Oh and Butterfly Kisses...I actually had to pull my car to the side of the road when it came on once...Jen was there,I'm a big sap.

the Shoe one is so sad...have you seen the movie?....

Well I would never admit this in person but on Saturday they were playing the Titanic song....yes, I know but as I started singing I started crying my eyes out!!!!!!!!!....it's been what ...10 years now...when can I sing that song and not cry? LOL...my DH thought I was nuts!

OMG I never thought a song would make me cry more than the Christmas Shoes song does but this is something else. So heart breakingly sad. I cannot stop crying. I just had to say this is really a powerful song that I'd never heard before but I'm glad I did. Makes me appreciate my little ones and want to hug them tight.

This is a song I have the lyrics to on Benji's website. The funny thing is, before Benji was diagnosed, I'd hear this song and think of Benji.

He's My Son
Written by Mark Schultz

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs Your help
I've done all that I can do myself

His mother is tired
I'm sure You can understand
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand

And she tries not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You

Let him grow old
Live life without this fear
What would I be
Living without him here

He's so tired and he's scared
Let him know that You're there

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone ...

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him
He's my son.

"Child of Mine" by Carole King--it's not sad, really, but my mom and I always used to sing it together. She and I had some rough times growing up; now we're incredibly close (we talk on the phone everyday) but whenever times got hard, I'd think about singing this song with her, and I'd remember how much she really loved me.

Although you see the world different than me,
sometimes I can touch upon the wonders that you see.
And all the new colors and pictures you've designed,
oh yes sweet darling so glad you are a child of mine.

Child of mine, child of mine, oh yes sweet darling
so glad you are a child of mine.

You don't need directions, you know which way to go,
and I don't want to hold you back I just want to watch you grow.
You're the one who taught me you don't have to look behind.
Oh yes sweet darling, so glad you are a child of mine.
Child of mine child of mine, oh yes sweet darling
so glad you are a child of mine.

Nobody's gonna kill your dreams
or tell you how to live your life.
There'll always be people who make it hard for a while,
but you'll change their heads when they see you smile.

The times you were born in may not have been the best,
but you can make the times to come better than the rest.
I know you will be honest if you can't always be kind,
oh yes sweet darling, so glad you are a child of mine.
