I recieved the letter from Disney regarding the bonus offer to members for SSR. The offer is soooo very tempting. Even DH read it twice. I love the decor of SSR. Trying to think rationally though, I keep coming back to my home resort BCV. It seems like it would be better to stay with one resort rather than have 200 BCV and one contract for 130 at SSR:confused: Do any long time members know if Disney has ever offered any similar reductions or incentives for purchasing resales from DVC? If DVC made a similar offer at BCV I would be on the phone right now! Is this just wishful thinking on my part? :scratchin

Nothing like that was ever done for BCV and I can't imagine it being done. The BCV went so fast that if you blinked, you didn't get it. (well maybe not that fast but it did go quickly). I also can't imagine them ever offering big incentives for any of the sold out resorts like the BCV.

Good luck with your decision.

I agree...I can't seem them offering promotions for the sold-out properties. People are still having to go on waitlists for particular resorts and Use Years. It would be a big headache for DVC to be able to meet some requests but not others.

Plus, every time DVC picks up a contract via ROFR, they really don't know if it will even be a money-maker for them. If they grab 200 points, they could end up selling-off those point in as many as eight 25-pt add-ons to different members. The administrative overhead associated with re-selling 8 contracts has to be considerable.

I understand the temptation, as it was just too much for us to resist. So we not only bought 130 SSR points, getting the incentive, the $5 off and this years points, but we also decided to add another 60 at our BWV home (bringing the total to 365 BWV). Perhaps 495 points will be sufficient for our family, then again, maybe not ;).

The plan is to use the BWV points for 11 month ressies and the SSR points for more off season or spur of the moment trips. Now of course we are looking forward to when we can use these new SSR points and to have us a stay at SSR too.

Pumkinboy-our thinking is exactly the same! I don't always plan 11 months out, so I understand that my BCV may not always be available--that's okay in some cases and that is when we will use the 130 points....and we are looking forward to SSR anyway. I checked out the post that had all the pictures on it...gosh don't remember which one, but it was up close to the top last night...WOW.....SSR is going to be one awesome resort once completed. And, I suspect that improvements in the way of food will come as the resort grows.

boysmom123.... I don't think it would hurt to call your guide and let him know that you would be interested in the offer if you could get it for BCV. The offer does state SSR only, but sometimes they offer points available for sold out resorts and sometimes they do give the incentives for those resorts. So, if they are not offering now, and they do happen to offer it next month, you guide will give you call.

We are adding 130 SSR points to our already 230 OKW points for 360 Points with $10 per point off starting next use year and 2 AP's. We would have had the paperwork in already, but H Frances and the threat of Ivan the terrible superceded our plans. We contacted the coordinator who gave us an extension until Mid October.

The DVD benefits (no closing, $10 discount, APs) just cancel out the ultra-high starting price. Buy a BCV resale and your own APs and you essentially get the same deal.

I seem to recall DVD offering a free vacation in the beginning if you bought a BCV contract. When I added on my extra BWV points a year or so back, there were no incentives since it was a sold out resort. However, as it turned out, BWV opened the additional points from the sales center before my paperwork was filed, so we ended up rewriting it to use magical beginnings. :)

Thanks for your replies.... some good food for thought. I will definitely contact Judy at DVC tomorrow and talk this over with her some so I know I have all the info... including how long this offering lasts. I think I will also call Jaki.... I had been considering adding on a small contract 50 or so points, but now I am questioning that too and wondering if I shouldn't go for a larger contract of 100+ points. I'm trying to second guess how high these prices are going to go in the next 12-18 months. I think the only thing that I am very clear on is that I would like to have more points.;)
