Bonnet Creek Questions

We are spending a week at Bonnet Creek in November and we are so excited! I was wondering if any one knew the answers to these questions:
Does Bonnet Creek have WiFi?
Are there life-jackets at the pool for little ones?
Are there any good local restaurants we should try that aren't chain restaurants? We love local "hole-in-the-wall" places.

We stayed at BC last month and loved it.

They do not have WiFi. There is internet access in the condos via network cable. Ours was from a jack in the kitchen. Just hooked up the laptop and surfed from the bar seperating the kitchen from the living room.

There are no life jackets in the pool areas.

The only local non chain restaurant that we've tried is this great little Cuban restaurant in Crossroads, across Apopka-Vineland next to DTD.

We loved Bonnet Creek when we stayed there. It was wonderful (loved the live music by the main pool at night).

I've heard others say that they took a travel router with them, so they could have WiFi. I don't have one, but I don't think they cost very much.

We did this for our trip in August and were so happy that we did. It was easy to set up and kept everyone happy for multi-computer use. We LOVED the resort and are actually going back on Friday. After being die-hard on property people (Pop Century), we now will never stay on property again and are ecstatic to stay at Bonnet Creek. I know that you said you wanted local hole-in-the-wall places, but we found and feel in love with Sweet Tomatoes and went there multiple times during our last trip. YUM! Have a great trip!

Thanks for all the replies! I was able to stay at Bonnet Creek last year for two nights and it was wonderful. But, I didn't get to check out the pools and we didn't have a computer with us. This year we get 7 days there and I am so excited. It's so nice to have all the space after staying in little hotel rooms. I love Sweet Tomatoes too! We never get to eat there because the closest one is 4 hours away from where we live. We might be going there several times! Thanks again.

It is just a small wireless router and you plug it into the Internet outlet and then you have wireless Internet for your whole suite. We had 3 laptops going at once and it was great!

I have 2 cables here. one yellow and one blue. I kind of have to leave the yellow one here for family to use. Is the blue one the one that will work? I have DSL now so its just got a phone type cord into the dsl box. then the yellow cord goes to my wireless router. The blue one went from the wireless(or maybe the DSL box? I forgot already!) to the desktop.

HELP. I don't know that much about this stuff but I really need my computer down there. Really surprised that they don't have wireless. They have a computer room, right? is there a charge for that or a limit?

I wouldn't be surprised to find that they had ethernet cables at the desk. I would call and ask.

Yes, they do have a computer room (no fee). I think it had 6 computers in it (but I may be remembering wrong).

Just beware of the sales pitch for buying a timeshare there. And especially the bait-n-switch on the resorts they are good for.

The place is very nice though.

We sat through their sales pitch in exchange for $100 in Disney gift cards. It was a little long but relatively low key and pleasant. No problem to get them to take no for an answer.

That suggests that BC is selling well enough that they easily make their numbers without all the usual arm-twisting. Even so, the body-snatcher at the parking pass desk fed me two different "half-truths" in two minutes trying to get me on the tour this past July...

Edited to add: For the record, the fibs were:

• Fairfield -> Wyndham wasn't just a name change, but "I'd be missing out" if I was "still a Fairfield owner."
• The in-unit "survey" isn't a sales pitch.

It took saying no two or three times before she finally gave up and handed me the pass.

The saleswoman was no dummy. She did keep trying to build a rapport with us, but she realized it was a wasted effort. I told her right up front that we own too many weeks and need to sell a few. Two closers followed her but they also didn't push.

The sales pitch was amusing. It was done in a group by a very good speaker. I told my husband about five minutes in that the fellow must be a preacher in his other life and a few minutes later he revealed that this was his former occupation. It was a bit like a prayer meeting. He had everybody nodding and agreeing with everything he said. He caught me whispering to my husband a couple of times about inaccurate statements and brought me back into the conversation by name (we all had to wear name tags). My only objection was a few off color remarks. (Basically saying in more length than was necessary how much better your sex life would be if you stayed in a condo instead of a hotel room.) My 15 and 10yo were not the only kids in the room. I complained to our saleswoman and also to the next closer about this. I'm sure they see worse watching television, but it was uncalled for in this venue.
