I tend to get very motion sick and my last time on a plane was a nightmare! My trip is coming up in three weeks, and I want to take something. I know of Dramamine. It does ok for me. I heard of Bonine recently and wondered if it was better, or comparable.

Anyone have recomendations? Thanks!!

I am a firm believer in bonine. My travel agent recommended it to me when my husband and I went on our first cruise about 8 years ago. I am very prone to motion sickness. I like Bonine better than dramamine because I don't get as groggy. I find that if you take one the night before you travel, it will be in your system the most of the next day. Bonine is just my personal preference. I have never tried them, but I have heard the patches behind the ear work really well too...good luck

I take the Less Drowsy Formula Dramimine. The regular one just knocks me out! Even the less drowsy makes me sleepy, but I never feel motion sickness. Just make sure that the date on the box hasn't gone by (watch out for sales)

ALso make sure you take it early enough as directed on the box. Don't wait till you are on the plane or it won't get into your system till you are halfway to your destination!

I cannot speak to Bonine- I do have a friend that uses it regularly to fly. I think if you look at the ingredients they are probably quite similar.

Bonine is the otc version of Anti Vert which my doctor prescribes for me (and I love BTW!). It really helps with the nausea.

Bonine contains meclizine, which is the same ingredient in the less drowsy Dramamine. Both work for me.

My son has motion sickness, so cruising and riding can be challenging. I use bonine for him and he is not so groggy.

I use the less drowsy drammamine and it works really well for me. I can ride all of the rides an no motion sickness at all. The regular drammamine makes me sleepy but I feel just fine with the less drowsy version!

I use generic meclizine, which is usually the "store brand" of Dramamine. I take 2 pills, which are 25mg each, and this works all day. I use this for long car rides, etc. But I use the scopolamine patch whenever we go to DW. I have been using it for years. There was a period of time when it wasn't available in the US & then I used the meclizine. It is a small transderm patch that you place behind your ear. You should put it on about 4 hrs before you need it to work. You leave it on for 72 hrs, then take it off & put a new one behind the other ear. Make sure you take one off before applying a new one!!! The only side effect I had was a very dry mouth. I just sucked on lifesavers a lot. :) The patch stays put even if you swim & wash your hair. Also, the patch is not OTC - you must get a script from your doctor. Kathy

I love Bonine!! It works great and doesn't make you drowsy like Dramamine.

I tend to get motion sickness on boats/planes/trains, you name it! But Bonine has never failed me! :thumbsup2

I use Bonine every time I go on a cruise.. It works great and doesnt seem to have any side effects. :worship:

I usually get a script for Antivert. This trip I'm taking Bonine becuse it has the same ingredient.

A 25mg pill of Antivert will make me extremely sick and dizzy, so I always have to cut them in half and take every 4-6 hours. Makes sense I'll have to do that with Bonine too, right?

I also bought a new product from Walmart. It's homeopathic drops you rub behind your ear right before anything that bothers you, and they are suppose to 'relaxe' your inner ear, so no motion sickness. Package said it also takes away the queasy feeling once it starts too. Hope it works! I'll ride anything if it doesn't make me sick. :crazy2: That just kind of ruins the rest of the day.

I stop using any motion sickness meds and invested in
a Relief Band. LOve it!!
It has worked wonderful.
My DH used it once(was amazed by it)
and so I purchased 2 more
for him and my DS. I was well worth
it and never have to worry about getting
drowsey or any drug interactions.
Relief band works differently than
pressure point bands because it uses
a pulse to blocks a signal to your brain that can
trigger motion sickness. It also stablizes you
stomach rhythems. The band can be used
even after syptems of motion sickness are felt.
The band was created for Pilots. This is the best thing
I ever bought. I purchased 1st band from a
Boating Website and the other 2 from Ebay-
kept watching for buy nows on them.

Ginger pills work wonders as well.

Mythbusters did a test of this stuff, and ginger came out on top. Can be found at any health food store/vitamin shop. My fiance gets motion sickness, and it helps him a lot. No side effects either.

We also use Ginger. It does not make you drowsy. I buy the caplets in the vitamin section at Wal-mart. They might be labeled Ginseng. I take 1 or 2 every 4 hours. I take them on the plane and for the rides. I couldn't do the tea cups without them. I have read some people eat Gingersnap cookies.
