Any thoughts on Bongos? I really like Cuban food, and I was wondering if any of you WDW veterans thought this place was worth a try. Thanks in advance for your help!

Have only eaten there once quite a while ago. Had seafood that wasn't quite the best, and VERY expensive. Have had no desire to go back, but the structure of the building is appealing, along with the atmosphere.

Having just dined there on 2/13/03, I would say that we will not be going back.
I was disappointed in the food, period. The appetizer combo was interesting, but not outstanding in any way. I ordered the beef cooked in tomato (sauce maybe), and it was good for cafeteria food, but not for the prices they charge. I have had better stewed beef at K&W, no joke. Also, my wife ordered the shrimp dish. I think the price was $21.95. It had 6 medium sized shrimp on the plate. Not large mind you, but medium sized shrimp.
Expensive food. Interesting layout. LOUD, but not quite as loud as Wolfgang Puck's Cafe. Conversation across the table was difficult. Service was fast (appetizer combo arrived less than 4 minutes after it was ordered), and pretty good.
We will not be going back. Value is not there at those prices.

We ate there last March and absolutely loved it. We thought the food was great and didn't seem anymore expensive than most dinners at wdw. The weather was nice so we ate outside on the patio area. It was beautiful with a view of the lake.
I can't remember what we had but it was very good. I remember the margaritas though...and they were great!!!
I think our bill for 2 adults was around $80 for appetizers, entrees and desserts and several drinks.

We have eaten there a number of times and always enjoy it. Our DD's love the busy atmosphere and the great latin music.

Hmmmm... I guess it's a mixed review kind of place... Thanks for your comments, though!

We have eaten there quite a few times and have typically enjoyed it. We do usually go for lunch. I, personally, didn't think the prices were that much different than any other sit down restaurant at Disney.. I will say the Cuban food in and around south Florida is probably better, my MIL and Wife's Cuban cooking is better (They are Cuban, if you can tell... ) However for me it was good. I will say that they last time we were there it wasn't as good as it had been in previous visits, but I always figure it can happen from time to time. I would give it a shot again. I love the Cuban Sandwiches and Tostones....

We Love Bongos and we go there everytime we are at disney, the food is wonderful and no pricier than any of the other restaurants.

We had a very rude waiter the last time we ate at Bongos and it kind of ruined the experience. A bad day can happen anywhere though and plan on returning.

If you have a vehicle, Imho a great place to have a Spanish/Cuban influenced meal is at Columbia in downtown Celebration. Imho good food and beautiful surroundings. You can buy made at your table Sangria and take home the hand painted pitcher. (something for adults for a change. We joke about the $8 smoothies DD has to have at Tony's, CRT and everywhere else just to get the glass. LOL)
