I can't find many reviews on this, but it seems to have people polarized when I do read reviews. I was gooing for someplace to eat at prior to La Nouba. I really really dislike wolfgang (as does my husband) and my mom doesn't really like sea food, but she does like cuban. (so we were thinking this over fultons.)

Any opinions, or recomendations?

I would liken it to if you wanted Italian food and went to Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden. It's okay, but not high quality authentic Cuban food. The two times I have eaten there the service has been just awful though.

Although I will say we may try the walk up window for Cuban sandwiches next month, they can't be too hard to mess up, can they?

I would suggest House of Blues for your group.

Perfectly said. The only part of the post where I could disagree, is about the food being as good as Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden. I think you are being too kind. Our food was terrible, and using the Italian food example, it was sub-par to even Chef Boyardee. The service was definitely awful. What Bongo's served (our visit) was an insult to Cuban food everywhere, IMHO.

The walk-up window is a safer bet, cheaper, and probably without the crappy service or bad attitudes. I still stop by the window, on occassion.

thanks for the advice i will look into the house of blues. I hadn't thought about that one, as it is such an big chain.... but if you can depend of the food, that is better that crappy service and crappy food.

I am always saddened to hear about such bad experiences.

maybe we'll just go to raglan for drinks and munchies.... i was disappointed with the entres there but loved my appitizers and desserts.

Been there twice, didn't care for it either time. The second time I went was because my best friend wanted to try it and she didn't like it either. The food was dry. Also, they were having a private event in the later part of the evening so felt a bit rushed.

I just went and i found the black bean soup to be good but the chicken was dry and the yellow rice was mushy. It was not to bad but there are other choices that are better. I would have rather eaten at Earls for the price/quality of food i had.

I have been once (a family member wanted to, I had heard too much bad about it).

The food was really bad, except for the rice. That was good.

Not for dinner. It's an ok place for a Cubano sandwich (the media noche in particular) and the papas rellenas, but that's about it. They do a nice cafe con leche too.

We just had dinner with a small group of relatives at HoB and it was horrid. So horrid that some dishes were inedible. :( We'll not be going back for a very long time (if ever).

I guess I was truly homesick when I had dinner there last September(2007). I grew up on Cuban food, literally! I even asked the waiter if my Grandmama had resurected and was working in the kitchen. I did not have the chicken I had the traditional Ropa veja dinner.

Everyone has their own opinions and you will find there are those that like and those that dislike the same dish of food. My BIL as well as DH and I all grew up on Cuban foods, my BIL and I totally disagree on what is good or not. Go figure!

If I werre to say one way or the other it is not going to cause one to starve, I plan to have dinner there again and next time I am bringing my whole family.

I will agree the Cuban Sandwich as we grew up ordering them, not the Cubano, actually they were on menus and still are in many Cuban Sandwich shops as Cuban Mix! Anyway I got off there, they were very good. I also really enjoyed the Cafe con Leche there, went to the walk up window several times!

Food just OK. How about Raglan Road. Great food and entertainment.
