Bongos?

Anyone eat at Bongos? Is it very spicy? (more than mexico?) What did you think? Service? Atmosphere?

I loved Bongos. The food did not seem particularly spicy to me but it was flavorful. It's not really like mexican food at all. It was very tasty. I had the fruit salad and DH had some sort of flat beef sandwich and we split a sampler appetizer platter. The ap was good because it was a bit more adventurous but we knew that the entrees we ordered would be to our liking because they were things we'd had before with a Cuban twist. The Mojitos were fabulous.

In general, most Cuban food isnt very spicy. I also suggest the sampler appetizer (papa rienos [sp?] are my favorites!).

Cuban food usually isn't spicy (hot), but has flavorful spices.
The one time we went, the food there had NO flavor. Very bland. Didn't know how bad it was until I tried real Cuban food at different places in the years afterward.

Atmosphere is LOUD, conversation was difficult. Service for us was both slow and bad, as the 'hip young servers' were more interested in talking to each other than waiting on tables in their sections.

If you want to try it, the walk-up window was excellent last trip. But we won't bother going back inside for dinner again for a very very long time.
Too many better places in DTD.

I'm not going to Bongo's because they don't have very many (or any) vegetarian options. I think I'll just put on Gloria's music...dance around ...and pretend I'm there!
