I have yet to find a review for Bongos. My mom and I were considering this place for our next trip to Disney. Has anyone ever been, and if so, would you recommend? Thanks!

Yes I've been. Once only. They had fantastic mojitos and mediocre food. Other opinions may be different. I might go back to drink but not eat.

It's been a few years since we ate there, but some things were more flavorful (churrasco) than others (arroz con pollo). The plantains, yucca and black beans were yummy, and the sangria and mojitos were AWESOME.

We really like Bongos for its atmosphere, especially if you get a table outside near the water.

I was there once several years ago. Very bland food, I thought. Service was nothing to write home about either. It's not on my list of places to return to; there are just too many other places that I enjoy at Disney.

We LOVE Cuban food. And it's impossible to find where we live. So even though we were on the DDP, we made sure to go to Bongos anyway(we were there in January). We had Masitas de Puerco, Media Noches, Cuban sandwiches, and Papa Rellenas. The Masitas were okay, nothing great, everything else was absolutely awesome.
They have a walk up window outside and have tables and chairs where you can eat. The food from the walk up window is considerably cheaper. Since our favorites are Media Noches and Papa Rellenas, if the weather is nice next time we'll just get it at the walk up window instead of eating inside.
On our upcoming trip we won't be on the DDP so I'm sure that we will be at Bongos for several meals.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! My mom and I love Cuban food, so we might check it out for lunch, but we'll see what happens. I keep reading all these great restaurant reviews, so my list of places to go keeps getting bigger, and we only have so many days to fit them all in. If there were only more hours in the day for extra meals ...

Sorry I give it a three thumbs down. The food isn't authentic and much of it is prepared in advance that shouldn't be. The tostones are reheated so instead of being hot and crispy they have a rubbery texture. The Pork in the sandwachies isn't soft the way it should be. I feel like its all premade and then just reheated. Cuban food is supposed to be fresh. Rice should be hot and steamy. I'm sure if you surf the web you'd find a far better option for cuban food that would be less expensive. I hate to knock it but I thought the food was blah.

Went once...will never go back. Food was mediocre at best. The cuban sandwich was okay, but we had 3 other types of sandwiches at our table and they were very dry and almost inedible. Huge waste of $50++ for lunch.

Bland food. Terrible service. Though the walk up window outside is good in a pinch. Would consider a drink there, but won't dine inside, for sure.

Once was enough for us, Food was bland and way over priced - Service was beyond terrible - It was so loud inside, that we could not hear each other, even though we were sitting side by side. I did not even get what I ordered, and the server got a huge attitude, and said I should just try what she brought, and that it was a hassle to correct. I sent it back and ate off DH plate, Getting my meal taken off was another nightmare, the manager was even condescending and rude. Never Never again.

I grew up in Florida were there is a large Cuban community, this is not what most Cuban inspired restaurants are like. Normally they are friendly, and the food is made with Love. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Speaking of Bongo's, I saw the dance schedule on their website runs from like 11-2 a.m. Fri. and Sat. nights with an 18+ age limit. We will have a 17 year old with us, do you think it's possible for everyone to get in? (i.e. is the bouncer lenient)

Hmm. I have been thinking that I'd love to go to Bongo's, now after reading reviews I'm not so sure

If it says 18 and older only I would not count on your being able to get your seventeen-year-old in.

I was discussing the reviews w/ my mom, and now we are torn. As I mentioned before, if we do try Bongos, it will probably be from the quick service counter. Hmm ...

What's a great place to eat for lunch in DTD? All suggestions welcome! :)

I've been to Bongos twice. The first time was about 8 years ago. The second was about 3 years ago. I really enjoyed my first visit. I thought the food was good but a bit over-priced (isn't everything at WDW) and the atmosphere was fun. The second time I went I wasn't as impressed with the food but we went for a very late dinner. The dancing was fun and entertaining.
