That's so weird. I would have gotten up, asked that the lap bar be released, let the kid ride and just go on the next train with my daughters.
Maybe the guy misunderstood the CMs? I was at Disney alone for almost 2 weeks last year, and not once did they make me share a seat with anyone.
Not even on rides with huge benches like Pirates of the Caribbean or Small World, Living with the land, etc. They would always put me all alone, and sometimes even on the first row (which I thought was strange, but maybe it's because I'm short).
Once I did misunderstand how a ride worked (it was the Aladdin carpet ride) and I didn't know I would have an entire carpet to myself, I thought it would be just a row, and I got in the back of a carpet that already had two teenage girls in the front (I'm a woman, by the way). They looked at me a little funny, but I had no idea I was supposed to have a whole carpet just for me until I left. So maybe it was just a misunderstanding.
Regardless, I would not be too happy either and would stop the guy from riding with my daughters if possible.
I've had trouble interpreting the CMs before myself. This poor little guy and his family could have been horrified that he got separated from them. On the other hand, he could have thought your daughters were cute.
