Can anybody tell me about this restaurant.

I understand it used to be in POR? but it is closed now.

What type of a restaurant was this?

What did they replace it with? Why did they close it?

Thanks

It had a New Orleans theme. I don't believe that they replaced it with anything.

This restaurant was at POFQ but was closed permanently a couple years ago. They combined POFQ and Riverside into one major resort. The sit down restaurant for these two properties is at Riverside and is called Boatwrights. There is not a sit down restaurant at FQ only a new food court.

The restaurant closed in mid-2000. It was a New Orleans/Cajun style menu, moderately priced. No official reason I know of, but there were 'rumors' that the area was to be used for a possible lounge expansion. Just the rumor that I heard from a CM while there.
No sit down restaurant available at POFQ, just the Sassagoula (sp.?) food court. They serve beignets there.

FQ food court is the Sassagoula Floatworks and Fun Factory and decorated like it is a warehouse for Mardi Gras float decorations.

Their beignets are nowhere as good as the originals that you get in New Orleans. But Boatwrights is pretty good.

I miss Bonfamille's. I was told it was closed as a cost-cutting measure when PO and DL were "merged"

We have had some really good meals there, and the staff seemed to really enjoy handling special requests. :)

Bonfamille's was excellent. We ate there the very last day it was open. In fact, I grabbed a menu for my Disney memorabilia. I'm still crying in my jambalaya. :(

Does anyone know if Boatwright's has the skillet breakfasts that Bonfamille's used to serve? Bonfamille's was one of our favorite restaurants! Thanks.

While staying at Old Key West in the mid '90s, we found ourselves having dinner there one early evening. Between the Blackened Voodoo Dixie Lager and the oysters appetizer, we were all in heaven. My son colored his New Orleans Mardi Gras cardboard mask that is given to all who ask and we enjoyed the ambience of this wonderful eatery. The waiters/waitresses were top-notch as well. We made it a point to return again for dinner later in the week. Boy did they make a big mistake closing this place...

We loved Bonfamilles too. They had awesome pecan pie and the best breakast we've ever had at WDW--Memere's French Toast, beignets, strawberries with cream, and cafe au lait. Boatrights is no substitute.

It sounds like we missed out on a good thing. :(

Oh well...thanks everybody for all of the information, I knew I could get an answer here. I looked it up on the internet, but couldn't find hardly anything at all on this restaurant.

I think we'll still have to visit PO anyway on our trip to walk around and take the boat ride down to DTD.

Thanks again everyone.

I miss Bonfamilles as well. Their breakfasts were EXCELLENT !!!
