Bombshell Obama Pastor Video

Ooo, sounds ominous. What would a black man know about racism and discrimination and why would he think he's qualified to talk about it? :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: Yeh, who would have thought.....

So much for Obama not running as a black candidate. He has his pastor to thank for that.

Well, I suppose if Hillary can run as a woman, Barack can run as a black man, and to think when all this began, he wasn't quite black enough

I'll just go back to my story of my 25 year old friendship, best friends for that period of time when just recently she divulged something that was SO against my core beliefs, I cut the friendship off, after a month of thinking about it...

But to think I went 25 years.... and to all those that know me, my judgment has always been quite sound. Yes, did my friend seem a certain way, yeh, I suppose, but I overlooked her somewhat shallowness, but there is a depth of shallowness that I just cannot go to on moral grounds, she went to it with the wrong person....

Well Geez -- he's half-white- don't you know -- that is why he would have never bought into Wright's racist agenda. ;)

The damage has been done. The tapes of his Pastor say it all. Whatever Obama says at this point is all damage control.

Yep, perfectly logical. I can also see how you can believe that Obama could sit in a Church for 20 years and not know that it was a BLF church and that his friend, pastor and close spiritual advisor was a racist hate-monger.

Again, you show your maturity level and go with the attack. I've not bought into the conspiracy theory. I asked if anyone knew of any links out that countered it so I could SEE both sides.

You've not even begun to attack the points made in those videos. I must assume you simply cannot, or aren't informed enough to know what points you should counter.

If they're false, I'm sure I'll eventually figure it out.

I see you didn't attempt to counter where I said that Bush specifically states (and in the video, it's coming directly out of his mouth) he saw the first plane crash into those towers. Do you have ANY link handy that shows this video was aired on Sept, 11 rather than the 12th and this video series states? If not, it would have been impossible for him to have seen it hit. He couldn't have mistaken it for the 2nd either since we watched him being informed of that.

Can you counter how they found the high jackers passports in the rubble? I would have thought, since being in the plane and all, that they'd have been destroyed immediately. Those speaking out about the rubble say at most, they might have found half of a phone face plate. They'd go on to say that you didn't see items, only bits and pieces of them (and everyone always said as much) yet the government had the passports from the rubble and instantly knew who was responsible?

Say that in a court of law.

Maybe you can counter that it took 144 days for Bush to grant an independent investigation (though it really wasn't independent at all - if the videos are correct). Maybe you should look how long it took the government to grant an independent investigation after, Pearl Harbor, the sinking of the Titanic, the space shuttle disaster, and JFK's assassination. They weren't anywhere near 144 days OR EVEN 10% as long. Then you might want to dig in (I plan on doing exactly this when I get the time btw), and see how much money was given for each of these, and then compare it to the amount Bush initially gave. Then add the wee bit more he upped it. If the videos are true, it's nothing short of appalling (but you'll have to dig a bit to see what those figures are, I won't make it easy for you - though I doubt you'd bother actually trying to find the facts).

Then, you might want to ask yourself why Bush and Cheney wouldn't testify under oath. When they spoke at all, it was mandated that they be interviewed together. There would be no transcripts made. There would be no recordings of any kind. They would not give opening statements. Any and all notes taken would be thoroughly looked over before they could keep them. and on, and on, and on...

In a court of law, that would be "Consciousness Of Guilt."

So don't tell me you know what you're talking about.

As for Obama being a racist (when his own family is white), and when you can't PROVE he is, I really don't care what you think. Your opinion is based on ideology rather than rationale. My guess is, you don't even know what rationale is. Sorry, again, unlike you, I require proof, not speculation, and your abilities to demean don't say a whole lot about you. Or, maybe they say everything.

Cowboy, I have to give you credit for continuing. Once I see someone is a believer in the conspiracy of the gov't to commit 9/11, I'm out. It makes my head want to explode.

Except, like Cowboy, you're ignoring the fact that I have NOT bought into any conspiracy theory. I asked if anything had any information that would counter what was in the videos I watched.

I did get one link, but it didn't counter the video (the book may have, but the website did not). And I am currently researching as much of it as I can (though it will not be a short process).

If you can counter any of it, I am all ears and eyes? Simply saying it's untrue means nothing to me.

I think this may be the end of the marriage of religion and politics we've seen since "Saint Ronnie" was in office. Most Americans have a visceral dislike of the invasion of privacy when it comes to their religious beliefs. They resent the idea that someone has to explain their relationship with their pastor and divulge their private conversations with that pastor.

This is going to bite the Republicans in the *** big time. The Republicans have actively courted some of the biggest racist/sexist/homophobic hatemongers in the country because they can deliver the votes. But now, the Republicans are pointing the finger, shaking with righteous outrage, saying "Do you see what that black man is saying in that black church".

Talk about overplaying your hand and throwing stones while you live in a glass house.

The average public will not see the two scenarios as the same thing, because they aren't...as for the expectation to privacy with your pastor, you you choose to make him a public face of your campaign, and use his sermon as the title of your second book which Obama had to know was going to be out in the public eye and under public scrutiny... that argument goes right out the window.

And you shouldn't accept the endorsement of racist/sexist/homophobic/anti-Catholic bigots either.

But that's different. :lmao:

So who are you voting for-McCain? Nader? I still am on the lookout for a why McCain floats my boat thread started by die-hard conservative republicans. :rotfl:

I'm so sorry you missed my cheerleading about McCain yesterday. I'll spare you a repeat...after two kids the ol' uniform just doesn't fit like it used to...

seriously though, I think a few "die hard conservatives" have already addressed that since McCain is a lock, we talk about him in the conservative thread

N.Bailey :thumbsup2

can we use a different term for "conspiracy theory"?

The interpretation of those words is taken by narrow minded, tunnel visioned people as a set of facts that could have never played any part in an event and are only imagined to have played a part in an event by a crazy person or crazy group of people who may as well have a "kick me here" sign taped to their hind end .

That is not what is meant to be communicated.
How about the phrase "alternate possibility"? :surfweb:

Is there still wide spread *real* suffering, oppression, lynchings, Jim Crowe laws, etc...

Okay, Charade, this bothered me. I have to say first that I'm a registered Republican, McCain supporter -- and I'm white -- so perhaps this isn't my fight -- but oppression due to race in the good old U.S. of A. is NOT ancient history. It is *real* and people continue to suffer from it.

Here's an example. Do you remember the community in Georgia that Oprah featured on her show in 1987? They said that they did not want blacks living in their county. The entire audience was made up of its citizens who said that they didn't want ni***rs living near them. They said that they "warned black visitors not to let the sun go down on their head." In the 1910 census, 10% of the county's population was listed as Black. In 1912 the entire black population was run out of the county. In 1987 they appeared on Oprah.

So how much progress has been made since the Oprah show in 1987? The 2000 census lists the racial makeup of that county as 95.05% white, 0.7% black. And this is in GEORGIA. It looks like they've done a great job keeping the ni***rs out.

So these people are business owners -- how much of a chance do you think a black person has of being hired in one of their businesses? These people are apartment owners -- do you think a black person can rent an apartment there? Is that oppression? I would say that being denied a job or housing based solely on your race IS oppression.

As for *real* suffering, Charade, how would you feel if you were a black parent and your child came home and said they were called a ni***r on the playground or walking down the street? If that happened to my child, I would suffer -- and it would be pretty *real* to me.

I'd tell the child to hold their head up and rise above it. And yes, I'd suffer just like any parent whose child gets called fatso, pizza face, carrot head, red skin.....whatever. There are a lot of nasty people in the world, like Rev Wright, and we can only help our children see that type as the poor souls that they really are.

I agree with you. I've heard some hateful things from white people towards blacks (occurring while I briefly lived in MS). That said, I have heard equally hurtful things from blacks. Neither are justified/right.

My friend disowned her daughter for dating then marrying a white male. We have a person at my employment that dares the bosses to fire him because he is black and he will sue them (he already got one settlement from the USPS). Our school system is majority African-American and our school board is majority African-American -- yet we continue to pay the NAACP over $500k a year for a 44 year old desegregation lawsuit ... one school board member said "It's 5-4, get over it" My son attended the city's summer camp. He was the only non-African-American child. He got beat up everyday and told that his white *** didn't belong. He was only 7 years old.

The racial divides and comments run both ways.

I do not believe in quotas.
I believe the most qualified is the best candidate for the job.
I do not believe in denying someone something due to race.
I do not believe that I owe any one anything because of something that happened in the past. (and my family wasn't here)

And, in the words of Rodney King, why can't we all just get along.

I'll tell you why -- because too many people are making money by keeping the "racism" alive.

Adding: there will always be ignorant people (my DH's ignorant beyond belief uncle -- who for some reason thinks I am Jewish and the devil reincarnate -- I'm Italian so maybe that's why) ... I do believe the majority of Americans are beyond this. People that keep the hate alive on both sides of the aisle are the reasons that these issues will never go away.

I agree with all these things, as well. But without quotas --without some kind of legislation to level the playing field -- how would a black person EVER have a chance in a community like the one I mentioned?

edited to add: I suppose they could move somewhere else, but why should they have to?

Blah! I'm heading out to an appointment. Will have to come back and read later...

Why would they want to live there -- I certainly wouldn't. And, I know exactly the type of area you are talking about -- I know some in MS. I would not live there. I don't know the town you speak of -but the ones I know of (which are actually few in number) are incredibly small and offer nothing to the outsider in ways of employment, shopping, etc.
I wouldn't want to live there because of the way I would be treated. ANd, yes, I can relate to this. I moved to MS for graduate school. I am a very dark skinned Italian (actually I am darker than a lot of my African American friends and they joke with me about this)- from the north -- believe me - I ran away as fast as I could in large part due to constant comments and not being accepted.

I truly believe that these towns will fade away.

I truly believe that these towns will fade away.

I hope so!!! But you know, I think I read that this county is the fastest growing county in Georgia.

I have to run -- but when I get back this evening I'll find the Wikipedia link and post it, and confirm that.

So two wrongs make a Wright?? This defense isn't going to hold with most people. It's time to stop living in the past and move forward. Just like the Holocaust, slavery and the oppression of black people, is a part of history that we should never forget. There are lessons to be learned no doubt. Black people still have plenty of roadblocks and are subjected to racism, but if anyone thinks that people thriving on the anger of the past is going to improve race relations from either side, then we will never be able to unite. Obama represents himself as a person of hope and change, but the sermons we witnessed by his pastor were anything but hope and change. He can't credibly separate himself from that man in my opinion. He's a liar to sit through all those interviews and try to pretend that seeing those sermons on the media was the first he'd been aware of them. I don't trust anything that comes out of his mouth now.

And if we don't understand our history, we will repeat it.

Exactly who do you see "thriving" on the anger? If it would not get pulled, I would be more than happy to post screen names of posters who regularly deny the history that led to angry rhetoric.
