Does the food at Boma change from day to day, or is it generally the same? Also, what are some must - tries at Boma?

I know there must be some favorites!
Well, I've only been there once, so I don't know how varied the menu is. The problem I have is that I don't know what most of the dishes were called or even what was in some of them. All I know is that I liked almost everything I tried. One favorite I remember was called bobotie. It's a meat pie, apparently made with beef, bread, eggs, milk, etc.

Mmmm, now I'm getting hungry.

My best advice is to try a tiny tiny portion of every dish that looks somewhat appealing. Then you can go back for seconds of the one's you like the most.

There is a post on these boards somewhere that lists the daily dinner rotations at Boma. Maybe someone can find it for you.

We have been to Boma twice and it is one of our favorite restaurants at the World. The menu does vary day to day somewhat, but the major dishes are usually the same.

My boyfriend absolutely adores the soups they have there. There are four types in big cauldrons and I recommend you try a few of them. His favorite is called egusi soup. He also loves fufu which is a side dish with the texture of mashed potatoes but made from yams, sweet potatoes, coriander, and a pinch of cinammon.

I loved everything at Boma and enjoyed trying different things. It was exciting! Make sure you save a bit of room for dessert and grab a bunch of zebra domes. They are fantastic chocolate-ty treats!

Enjoy the flavors of Africa! :earsboy:

In the past, Mon and Thurs menus were the same, as well as Tues & Friday, and Wed & Sat, with Sunday being chef's choice. A lot of the food was the same each night (especially desserts, fruit, breads, dips, and side dishes), but the soups, fish preparation, and one of the meats would rotate, ie, ribs vs brisket, vs pork loin. We eat there every trip and always seem to have prime rib, but I can't swear it's there every night. There was always chicken. Didn't pay attention to the kids section.

It's difficult to remember the names of everything, but the soups tend to be excellent. There's a carrot ginger soup that is thick and rich and absolutely spectacular. The mulligatawny (wasn't there a Sienfeld show on that?) is wonderful. We've usually had a choice of 4-6 soups. The beef has been excellent. Even though the most popular dessert seems to be the zebra dome, I don't care for it --- give me the miniature pineapple cheesecake tart any day. There's over a dozen desserts, plus cookies, pudding, etc. I skip the lettuce salad, breads and hummus and can never try everything. Oh, yes, lots of fresh fruits that are good. There's a big variety of food, but I primarily eat the beef, soups, some desserts, some salads, and will try a teaspoon of many, many other things. Enjoy! We'll be back there soon.

My daughter and I were just talking about this today! My favorite is the peanut rice. We both love the roast beef, the soup, and pap. There are 3 different kinds of hummas and they are all good. We both usually get some mac and cheese from the kid's bar. And yes .. the desserts are very good.. zebra domes, lil cheescakes, pecan tarts, brownies..yum!

have fun! :cool1:

Oh my! You all are making me think that we should plan on going there more than once. I wonder if we should skip O'Hana's and go to Boma a second time. What do you think?

Here you go....keep in mind sometimes things may change. Try a little of everything and then go back and get what you want. The peanut rice is YUM, YUM, YUM!

We went aug20-26. we went to boma on our first night and last night there.
The first night we all really enjoyed the buffet, so I make ressies for our last night, and although I was very happy to revisit AKL, it wasn't quite as good the second time , because it had mostly all the same foods, except for the coconut curry chicken soup... that was what I really wanted, and they didn;t serve it the second time we went.
My family loved those little chocolate mouse desserts.
But I think we all wished we had tried a different restaraunt on our last night at disney.

Thank you PBHariss, that is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for.

You're quite welcome! I just say try everything. The names of the dishes are kind of weird. I am a picky eater, but I do try new things. SOme things I thought I'd like, I didn't and others I thought I wouldn't like, I did. Now you have me thinking about it, I can't wait to go back! Enjoy!

pbharris4, Thank you for the menu information! How did you collect that information! I do not recall printed menus -- you actually took notes during your visits?! Or perhaps you know someone who works there? We love Boma, and we are thinking of visiting Boma twice on our next trip. This menu will help me plan, and I will keep in mind that things may change, though reading the list makes me think I've eating each set at least once during our past visits to Boma -- we've eaten there on four separate trips.

I can't take the credit for that list. I remember seeing it somewhere else on the boards (I can't remember the original poster.) I am not sure how that person got the list (I think they may have asked for it or something), but before we went on our trip in July I came across it and it helped me choose which day I wanted to go. It's not too wildly exotic, but it's also not "your run of the mill" place. It gets busy. We usually make reservations for 5 or 5:30 pm because of my 2 yo's schedule and normally places don't seem to get crowded until 6 or so, but this place was hoppin as soon as it opened for dinner. I didn't care for the zebra domes..I liked the little pineapple cheescakes. I don;t think they had coconut tiramasu when we were there :sad1: Enjoy your trip and please let us know how you liked it! I love reading reviews!
