Hi,
I am an extremely picky eater but my husband is not....he insisted on making an ADR at Boma...I have a few questions...will people look at me funny if I eat the macaroni and cheese...is the macaroni and cheese seasoned with weird stuff like cinnamon and finally how authentic is their African cuisine...I watched Anthony Bourdain in Africa once and I don't think serving some of the stuff he ate is even legal...
TIA

Nobody is going to care what you eat. Get the food off the "kids pod" and it's just plain old macaroni and cheese. They have pretty good chicken strips too. And Boma doesn't serve anything Anthony Bourdain would actually eat in Africa.

No one is watching you eat. Except your husband. I'm guessing the show you watched had this guy eat grubs and what not. Ummm, no.

You be hard pressed to find anyone more picky than DW and DDs and they all love Boma(we're talking beef/potatoes/dessert) I'm a foodie and love it too. Something for everyone:earsboy:

I can't wait to eat here on our upcoming trip!:thumbsup2

Boma is U.S. buffet food with a very light African influence. It's not too exotic.

You'll be fine and may even find that you like more than the mac and cheese. I've been with extremely picky eaters in my family. I think my brother is pickiest person I know when it comes to food. He doesn't really like vegetables, or fruit, or water...or rice.. He's a meat and potatoes kind of guy that doesn't like weird spices and he fared just fine. He had plenty to eat and choose from.

No silly looks from us!! ;) You can eat anything you want, any way you want. The food at Boma is great, and I bet you'll find something you really enjoy. Just don't be afraid to try. :thumbsup2

Our oldest DS is very picky and Boma is one of his favorite places to eat at Disney :thumbsup2. Don't be afraid to try it.....there's plenty on the buffet for you choose from......and nobody will even notice if you choose things like macaroni and cheese or chicken tenders from the kids section :goodvibes.

No one notices or cares what anyone else is eating, they're too busy stuffing their own faces. :)

Don't worry about the mac & cheese, it's the same recipe that's on kids meals all over WDW. Very plain.

The food isn't remotely authentic African, it's more African-inspired. You won't find any ingredients on the buffet that aren't in most supermarkets. The meats are just regular old beef, chicken and lamb, the seasonings are a bit different than what you're probably used to. There are soups and salads and fabulous desserts.

Don't just confine yourself to the kids section, check out the dishes on the main buffet. There's a ton of variety, and I'll bet you'll find a bunch of things you'll want to try. That's the nice thing about a buffet...you can get a tiny portion of something to try, just a spoonful. If you like it, you can get more, if you don't, no big deal, you eat something else.

The buffet isn't in the middle of the restaurant or anything. It's against the side of the restaurant. Nobody will even see what you select.

Although it has been several years, we ate at Boma three times. I am not a very adventurous eater but I found plenty of good things to eat at Boma. Don't be afraid to try some of the other offerings. As I recall, they had some wonderful salads. Nobody will be looking at what you put on your plate.
