We are a party of 2 adults with no children. We like to try new things but in looking at the menu for Boma on Allears, we are not so sure. Any opinions??? We have a ressie but we are considering canceling. HELP:eek:

Have you checked out the pictures of the food on the food porn threads?

Boma is our absolute favorite restaurant ANYWHERE!!! I wish they would open one in the NY/NJ area! :rotfl:

The food is a little different but SO delicious. My son's (9 year old) favorites are the Butternut Squash soup, the ribs and the FuFu (mashed sweet and white potatoes with cinnamon). My husband loves ALL 5 soups they serve (everytime we've gone there has been at least 2 new soups added to the group but there's always 5 available each night). For me, I don't think I have a favorite food - it's all good. But if nothing else appeals to you, you have got to love the dessert tables (banana bread pudding with vanilla sauce, assorted mini tarts and cheesecakes, flourless chocolate cake with chocolate ganache sauce, fresh fruit and the zebras - black and white mousse tarts that are fabulous)!
Definitely give it a try. Enjoy!!!!

Not sure if you are talking about breakfast or dinner but we have eat both there many times and love it. Different types of food (check out the menus on allearsnet). We lreally enjoy it. We also love the resort itself and always spend some time walking around checking out all the animals while there.

I would definately keep your reservations.

Linda

First of all, there is plenty of ordinary, American Food. Prime rib and chicken fingers, anyone? Second, it's a buffet. Take a taste of something you're not sure of, and if you don't like it, you can go back for something you're familiar with.

We've had dinner there. Didn't care for most of the ethnic dishes but we still able to find other traditional foods on the buffet that we ate.

Breakfast or dinner? Dinner is good - breakfast is wonderful - our family's favorite breakfast buffet - very nice for a couple w/out kids.

Boma is our absolute favorite restaurant ANYWHERE!!!

:thumbsup2:cool1:

Boma is our family's favorite, too! In fact, we were just talking about ADRs for our January trip and our kids requested to eat at Boma for every meal. (Well...our DD8 did ask for one  trip to Chef Mickey's.)

My husband, while he loves it, thinks it is hysterical that the girls and I like Boma. He says that he doesn't understand why, since we "don't eat any of the food." In a way he's right. We rarely visit the main dish areas - though I do love the potatoes. We fill up on the delicious salads, humus, fruit, and, of course, the desserts. You have to leave lots of room for the desserts. DD13 lives for zebra domes. I love the bread pudding - you can add rum or vanilla sauce...or both.:woohoo:

Hope you enjoy.

Dh and I tried it last Oct and didnt like it at all...Jiko was fantastic but Boma tanked for us

I have to say this was the best meal we had on our last trip to WDW. I am a little adventurous in eating and will try most things once. But I was really surprised at how familiar the food was. I guess being from the south where we have alot of people of African descent it should not surprise me. I recognized sweet potatoes, slaw, etc. I am not a big buffet person at all but the food all tasted like it had just been prepared for me. I usually don't feel like I get my money's worth at buffets but I really did here. I am traveling with 3 other adults on my next trip and we are all choosing 1-2 places we want to eat on this trip. Boma is my number one choice.

Definitely keep it! Boma is the only restaurant (other than Le Cellier) that DBf and I are going to again on our upcoming vacation. We are adventurous eaters and are trying to mostly go to restaurants at Disney that are a little different. We both really loved Boma when we went on our last trip - besides the yummy food and large selection of the buffet, they also have a really good wine list!

I LOVE Boma! I am a pretty adventurous eater and I enjoyed everything that I tried. In fact, I'm not sure I tried any of the meat options, because there was just so much delicious vegetarian food that looked great! My DH on the other hand.... is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. And he found enough meat and potatoes to keep him happy. He doesn't like anything with a "different" flavor or anything spicy, and he was fine with Boma.

For me, I'd classify it as a "must-do" and my DH would classify it as "good enough". So if you like to try different foods, definitely give it a shot. If you don't like it, there is plenty of familiar foods to keep you happy.

Another vote for Boma. We are a family of four very different eaters, I'm a pig by nature, will eat anything but shellfish, banana and beetroot. DH is a low fat plain food kind of male, DS is adventurous and loves his cream cakes while DD is a meat and fruit girl and she is not keen on spices or food that has been 'messed about with' or has a sauce.

Boma is the favourite restaurant for three of us and is DD'S favourite non-character restaurant. We went again in February and there is plenty for the picky eater as stated.

Soups we have never tried as we go for stacks of salad, fruit, meat, and the wonderful desserts.

I would also highly recommend the (alcoholic) strawberry basil lemonade. I am drooling at the thought.

BOMA is my favorite WDW restaurant and is almost always the only ADR I make. I love the food. There are plenty of options and the variety is great so there is something for everyone.

The food is a bit Americanized compared to African restaurants I have eaten at around the country. The food is spiced but not as heavily as the Ethiopian restaurant I go to around my house of any of the African places I have been on my not very extensive travels.

The first time we did boma we did not enjoy it...it was a late ADR for us 9pm and we were tired and cranky. Then we stayed at AKL CL and they had food from boma every night! We feel in love with it...the butternut squash soup is my fav!!! They had it every night in the lounge along with other meats ,sides and dessert YUMMY so we are going to wdw in NOV and I made sure to book boma again, I think it needs another shot and a early ADR lol (6pm) I say keep it.

Voting for Boma! We ate there last Friday night and it was great. Like everyone has said because it is a buffet you can find something that you like. We had a reservation at 5:40P and because we were just 2 they sat us near the window. It was so nice and out of the hustle & bustle of the restaurant. Go and enjoy. :)

Don't cancel, give it a try! BOMA is my favorite restaurant on Disney property and always a must do every trip. Honestly I could probably eat there every night!:thumbsup2

We ate at Boma last week for the first time and I loved it. I also like *different* foods, and I'm into things like Indian, Thai, etc.

They have a carving station with beef and pork and some other "americanized" dishes. I loved the nut crusted salmon, the couscous and that flat hard bread with the various dips.

Making me hungry just thinking about!
