Boma?

When I asked myself where I would most want to dine while at WDW I decided Boma. I haven't been there right, but from the little I have heard it sounds right up my alley.
I'm going to try and fit it into our February trip, but I think I might need to convince my husband that we need to try this place! Could I have some help?! Any reviews you've done or stories of the timid trying it and liking/loving it?
Thanks!

BOMA is one of our favorite places to eat but we are adventurous eaters. We have taken non adventurous guests there because it's our tradition to eat at BOMA on arrival night. They have all done fine there. Do they love it? No. But they do fine with it.

The meat station has several non-adventurous selections. I personally love the prime rib. It is served with sauces on the side but for "plain" eaters, they could go it alone. All of the dishes are labeled with a basic description to help. Best of all, since it's a buffet, if you get something you don't like, just don't eat it and get something else.

Just ate here 2 weeks ago. Probably Disney's best buffet in my opinion.

vote of dissent...I know a lot of people like it, but we ate there 2 weeks ago. First of all, this was by far the busiest and most crowded Disney buffet we've ever been too (and I've think we've been to them all now.) It was even more noisy than the character buffets (and there's no characters) Every time we went up to get food it was at least a 10 minute wait. And the food. We consider ourselves fairly adventurous too. We found very little worth eating at Boma. Hot foods (talking spicy-hot here) were hot enough to burn your tongue. Really hated it when things like absolutely perfect looking BBQ ribs turned out to be not BBQ sauce, but tasted like a cup of pure cinnamon powder was dumped on them...like the BBQ sauce was made from a vat of Red Hots. The almond-encrusted salmon was another one--looked delicious, but it's not just almonds it's encrusted with...they left "hot pepper" off the description. Basically I thought the hot spices just killed the natural flavors of everything (instead of enhancing, it was like the excess spices were hiding something they were so strong.)

The prime rib was just o.k. (we've had better prime rib at the other Disney buffets.)

The desserts are good, but not good enough to warrant the rest of the mess.
Just my opinion, of course. If you like super-super-hot spicy food, you will love Boma.

We just tried Boma last week and my 2 daughters who are 7 and 9 both LOVED it. We found nothing that was incredibly spicy. Everything was seasoned well, but not overly seasoned in our opinions. I think this is a good place for someone who is willing to try some different things, even if they aren't typically adventurous. But if someone is not willing to try new things, then I would go with something different even though they would definitely be missing out on an awesome restaurant.

We tried it for the 1st time last month and thought it was so-so. Dh and I are adventurous eaters so we thought this was a good choice for dinner. We though the meats were too dry or overcooked and many of the sauces/soups and other dishes too sweet. I actually don't remember what we each tried but it must have been unmemorable (is that even a word?). I don't remember eating anything too spicy though. I finally got to try the zebra domes an thought they were good, though.

Regarding noise levels, we too thought it was quite noisy for a non-character meal. We enjoyed exploring the hotel, but don't think we'd go back to Boma when there's still so many other restaurants to try.

Well I had heard so much about this joint that I had to try it and boy did I HATE It, now I ate there Sept 9th,and This is what I am going to say maybe I had eaten so much while I was in WDW that maybe I had food overload,it was sort of on the late side, or maybe it just was not good,I love all types of food,so it is not that I am picky,so that Is not a factor I so wanted to like this place, the soups had the best consistency but the flavors were so similar in that I was looking for something a little spicer and savory they were really mild and a bit delicate,I just think that this restaurant is not authentic African food, which is okay, because it has to be liked by americans,so I think that is why the flavor is mild,I guess I was looking for a little more spice and kick, more of the flavors have more of a northern african flair,I am not one to say do not try it,by all means try it and the frunch I mean was the best well good luck this board has some great things to share, and everyone's taste are different,so give it a try! You may in the majority that loves BOMA!!

We love breakfast there...it is so good! We are going to try dinner there next month and I cannot wait! I heard that it gets very busy around 6 so we have ressies at 4:45

We go to Boma every trip. This time we're staying at AKL and we've got it booked for breakfast. We love it and can't stay away. It's a must do for us.

I love Boma, it's one of my fav. Disney restaurants and a must do for me each trip.

I will just say that we are eating here on the first morning of our upcoming trip, and my husband begged me to also book it for the last day of our trip... and I did :woohoo:

For us, Boma's menu for lunch and dinner isn't appealing. Only breakfast appeals to us and I don't think I have seen bad reviews on their breakfast.

Us too. It just so happens that AK is having EMH and since FI really wanted to stay at AKL, but we got a pin code and upgraded to the Poly, I thought that would be a great treat to start our first morning at WDW.

Boma is my absolute favorite! I am a somewhat picky eater and I can find plenty to fill my plate with. My favorites are the prime rib (and I hate prime rib at most places), potatoes with affritude, and Zebra Domes! They have excellent soups as well! This is also DH's favorite. We went in December with family and friends and everyone in the party loved it.

I recently purchased DVC at Animal Kingdom Villas, and honestly, I think I am most excited about being able to stay onsite whenever I want so I can go to Boma multiple times in a trip!

Another dissent. We found enough to eat to feel satisfied but did not care for many of the ethnic dishes that so many people raved about, the soups for one. All of them were way to sweet for us.

We absolutely love Boma, we have eaten there on every trip. My picky 2 year old son had the best time there. There were so many things to try and the chefs were on hand to answer any questions about the dishes and make suggestions.

Unfortunately, we brought my brother there and he and his girlfriend hated it and we still refer to is as the unfortunate Boma incident.

Good luck,

Haha, we are eating there during EMH too...Dec 15th? That would be pretty funny.

It is our arrival night tradition also! :thumbsup2 We especially love the pork tenderloin....but everything is very good and I don't ever find things to be overspiced but obviously that's a personal choice.

Is Boma serving lunch now?

We had breakfast there in August and it was fantastic, and their frunch is worth 2 glasses! Next wel'll be trying dinner, but guaranteed, we'll have a breakfast tossed in there at some point during our trip!!

We LOVE Boma! It is a must-do for us every trip. Somebody said it wasn't authentic African food - well I have been to Africa, and yes it is! The entire buffet is not traditional african dishes, but there are many dishes that we love to eat out of pure nostalgia for our time in Africa.
Desserts are amazing, and they have a kid-friendly section. I always wish I had more room in my stomach when I go there! :rotfl2:
