The price for dinner to go to BOMA is now a whopping $40.00!!!!:scared1:

We will be going to WDW in January and I wanted to check the all ears website and that is what's stated...$40.00 adult dinner.

Now I can remember a mere 2 years ago we were paying $26.99!

What is going on????

Thanks all!

Brunette

It does indeed say that, not sure if it is accurate, or if it is "peak" pricing because I have no idea when they do peak pricing anymore.

Part of the reason why I don't go to the buffets anymore. I can go to Jiko for that (extra for wine of course)

Disney's reservation site only has $35.99 as the max - not sure if that would factor in peak pricing or not. Take that + peak surcharge and it would be right around $40.

Yes - $35.99 plus the $4 for peak would put it right at $39.99. Which most of us would round up to $40.

$35.99 is still high. and Disney doesn't seem willing to say when peak pricing is in effect anymore.

I saw that too when I went last month and freaked out. But when we got to Boma it was $35.99 which is still nuts. I remember last year it was "only" $28.99!

WOAH! Boma really ... Kinda ... well, let's face it ... Sucks. It's just an average buffet in a really nice hotel with average buffett food. Yikeso shmikso dominikso!

Hey all!

Thanks for all of your replies and thoughts. All Ears will usually tell you if there is a surcharge, but they could be wrong. Hopefully, they are including it (surcharge). $40 bucks for this buffet is outrageous. If it keeps going up in price we will just not go anymore. I think Disney is forcing us all to buy into eh hem "Free Dining". Thanks but no thanks.

The price is the biggest reason we stopped going to Cape May Cafe, and we have never liked Boma but most of the buffets remain at the same fixed prices (35.99). They do have a surcharge for holiday menus, which is the 4 dollars or so.

Not surprising at all. It's called inflation and the rising cost of food. I would expect to see a lot of it in the coming months and not just at wdw.

This is because it is a victim of the Basic Disney Dining Plan!

Each restaturant receives a fixed dollar amount credit for each meal sold under DDP. Each restaurant has to make a profit.

As food costs go up it takes more money to operate a restaurant.

So as things progress more and more of the higher end cost items will vanish.

The signature restaurants do not have so much of a problem as they get paid double the regular restaurants.

If they ever do away with the Basic DDP within about six months you will find a lot more high end selections at all the restaurants.

It's reasons like this that we do the dining plan. Just sayin'.

And Disney wants people to do the DDP, so they pull stuff like this.

I like Boma but not at those prices. Wow, I had no idea....

Hey Brunette!

All Ears is wrong quite often. They just seem to fill in prices, without any explanation as to peak surcharges. The price they have listed is more than likely with surcharge included, as that is in effect now. They seem to be attempting to do what Disney does - Disney does NOT tell or alert guests to surcharges, as they change pricing/menus throughout the year. Whatever price in effect at the time of dining, is the price you will see listed on menus or signs. They do not make any mention of surcharges on their menus or signs.

The problem with this is that All Ears doesn't keep up with their pricing at all, and you'll see incorrect prices all of the time. They have surcharge prices listed when it's not surcharge time, and vice versa.

Based on our prices in July, many buffets are around $35.99 with the surcharge included, you are at $40.00. No thanks!

We have cut out all TS dining pretty much for out next trips, as we are done with the crazy high prices too. We've done it all, and so we don't think we'll miss it that much. Kids will probably have a hard time with no character meals, but even they are getting tired of rushed characters, kids running around the restaurants, etc.

I also agree that Disney seems to be 'forcing' people onto the DP, by inflating its value. The fact that there is a minimal difference between non-peak and peak DP rates (2.00), yet there is still a 4.00 upcharge for cash paying guests, proves that theory, IMHO.

Happy planning, Tiger :)

I bet Disney charges $35-$40 for buffets so most patrons do the dining plan. :goodvibes Let's face it, if your family wants to do a lot of buffets and/or character meals...the dining plan is what? Around $30-$35 a day for the basic one? Those character meal loving, buffet eating families would be crazy NOT to do the dining plan. You can't tell me Disney has not taken this into account. Then of course if those families have the dining plan, how many meals will they eat offsite? Probably none. The perfect captive audience.

Then, factor in that some families may want to eat TWO character/buffet meals a day and well, you've got yourself the deluxe dining plan to do that. It's actually pretty brilliant on disney's part.

And regardless of prices, and Disney's brilliance, people will still go to the buffets.

This might still be a good deal for families on the dining plan but not every family includes kids that want to see characters. It's still a bad deal for me and DS which is frustrating because it costs too much for us no matter how I plan it.

We used to do a handful of buffets on each trip but no more. I doubt that we're typical though.

Since Boma is the only buffet dinner that DH and I both enjoy, on our last trip in October, it was our ONLY TS dinner. Totally worth the splurge for us!:thumbsup2
