I like Jiko, my DH likes Boma. We have three kids who will eat interesting foods, so that is not an issue. We will be going in late November, and plan on a late dinner after evening EMH. So which would you do under the circumstances?
Also how long does it take to go from AK to AKL? What about AKL to POP? Should I just taxi back to Pop?

It would be hard to go wrong with either one!

For me, a lot would depend on how late the EMH was. If it's going to be late, Boma might be a better choice as you tend to eat a lot sooner at a buffet than a table service restaurant. On the other hand, a relaxing meal at Jiko might be a nice way to end the evening. I love how they bring out hot towels to freshen up before the meal. Boma is noisy and bustling, Jiko a bit more sedate.

Not very helpful, am I?

The hop from AK to AKL on the bus is very short, maybe 5 minutes. Taking a cab from AKL to POP after dinner is probably a good idea. Otherwise you'll have to take a bus from AKL to a theme park or Downtown Disney and catch a POP bus from there.

For a late dinner I would recommend Boma as well. Both are great and unique restaurants, I would have difficulty in deciding as well. However, as said before, Boma is a buffet, so you will get food sooner. At Jiko they actually take their time to create a relaxed meal. But this also means that you will be there for quite some time. Our three course meal took actually over two hours. We loved it that way, but after a long day in the park, I think most kids would find that very boring...

I have to agree with Maggi May wholeheartedly on the transportation issue-you can easily get a bus from Animal Kingdom back to the Lodge (we stayed there last November...:flower3: ) but it will be much more dicey getting buses in the evening-you would have to take a bus back to AKL and then get a bus back to Pop...

as for the food-I think the food at both is fabulous but very different in atmosphere....

Jiko is totally gourmet in food as well as presentation and timing of the meal. Boma is really fun and most faster since it is a buffet (at least once your seated...

My daughter who is 12+ liked both but actually preferred Jiko-she is a little gourmand...my son who will be turning 5 liked both (he is not a gourmand but is happy anywhere there is steak-and Jiko has a great kid's menu...) but was probably happier w/ Boma's atmosphere and the fact he made friends with one of the CMs who gave him a "special" Mickey straw...

You really can't go wrong either way but if you're worried about being tired after a long day and want to be more relaxed-I'd go with Boma...if you think you're up to it Jiko is a gourmet experince that can't be beat....

just my humble 2 cents....:flower3:

First, you might want to call WDW-DINE and see if you even have a choice! I called a few weeks ago for Boma on 11/30 and they only had a few times available, I remember I had a choice between 6:40 or the next available was 8:40.
