Boma - Really That Good?

We like Boma for both breakfast and dinner. Besides it's fun to visit AKL at any time of day.

As for food items, there are 'normal' items on the kids' buffet if someone doesn't care for the seasonings. Not as interesting but at least no one will starve!

Boma (dinner) is THE one restaurant I always think about when recalling our past trips.

I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't that adventurous or are super picky. With that in mind, the stuff they have isn't super exotic in my opinion. The soups are amazing....they had this seafood soup w/ a coconut type flavor that was out of this world.

The next time we go, I would like to go there TWO times. :)

I've been to both dinner and breakfast and absolutely loved both. They have lots of great dishes that you wouldn't normally find on other Disney buffets. At breakfast they have these delicious scrambled eggs (I think they were sour cream and chive or something), cinnamon raisin french toast, ready to make omelets, in addition to all the pastries, fruits, meats, etc. I highly recommend trying it out for either meal!

I enjoyed dinner at Boma. It wasn't fantastic or my favorite meal on property, but I would definitely go again. I'm not going back anytime soon since there are other places I haven't been to that I want to try, but if you haven't been yet, I would say it's worth the while. A good value as well.

We love the breakfast and the dinner. Both are musts for every trip. DH and I will be there later today:cool1::cool1:

My husband always read about all the rave reviews about Boma. We have never been, and are thinking about trying Boma for breakfast on our upcoming trip. What makes Boma so good? It is the breakfast or dinner that is the better choice? Thanks in advance for your input!

I've only had the dinner there and I really enjoyed it. One of the best meals I've had in disney. The food is a little exotic, but it's very good and you just have to be willing to try it. The only thing I didn't like, is the dessert wasn't very good in my opinion.

We've had dinner there two or three times, and it is good. But, if you are at DAK the new Tusker House dinner buffet is run by the same chef. We loved that, and would highly recommend doing that one instead (unless you're staying at AKL). We had an early dinner there, and the food options are very similar to Boma.

We're not huge breakfast eaters, so a breakfast buffet isn't appealing to us.

We have had both breakfast and dinner at Boma, while we were staying at AKL. While we enjoyed both, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

we went to both (breakfast and dinner) and we prefer going to Boma Breakfast buffet and dinner at Jiko. Breakfast has a great selection, eggs made to order, juice and coffee are wonderful and fruits sweet and delicious. Dinner food was not as good and the lines were so long and hectic.

I think it depends on your palate.

If you like very typical American food that has minimal seasonings (salt and pepper), it may not be the best place for you. They have some of those things available, but you'll find better value elsewhere.

For us, we really love Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Creole cooking, so the combination of spices and flavors really appeals to us. If you like those types of dishes, you'll likely enjoy Boma.

The food is always supremely well prepared and there is a lot of variety. I always find at least one soup that I love so much I could marry (butternut squash and mulligatawny are the ones that come to mind). The salmon and pork entrees are fantastic. Desserts (if I manage to have room) are some of the best in the World.

WOW, thanks ! What great feedback !! My husband and I are very adventurous eaters, with DH being a Chef, we both enjoy anything new and exciting. I would love to try both breakfast and dinner ... but I think will keep dinner at Jiko, and go for breakfast one morning, before we head to AK.

Thanks for all the great input, we aren't going until November, and my taste buds are already watering!!!

I liked Boma the two times we have been there and would call it good; however, for me, I can't call it or any buffet great. Also, if I am not on the DDP there is no way I'm going to pay that kind of money for any buffet in WDW.

We tried it last year and found it over rated. It was very good but exotic??? Not really. It is worth trying once. We won't be back any time soo though.

Boma is a family favorite of ours. My son (14) is ready and willing to try just about anything they put out on the buffet. He's a pretty fearless eater. My husband is always up for at least two helpings of bobotie and at please don't ask how many Zebra Domes that man eats. :lmao: For me I love it because as a vegetarian I'm always able to find more than enough to eat and feel truly satisfied with my meal.

We have yet to try it for breakfast but it's always on our list for dinner each and every trip. :)

Three or four years ago there were better offerings. I actually went the first year it opened, too; so, I've seen the restaurant develop since day 1. In days gone by they would have alternate desserts that were actually healthy for you. One that I remember had blueberries and raspberries on top of a low calorie pudding in a small pie. Also, the salads were better like having cranberries in them. Meat offerings were better, too like better cuts of meat and more selections. I would say the child's area has stayed on par, but that's it. The DP plan included a smoothie in the past and that's gone now.

The last two times we were there (2008 and 2009) I wasn't as impressed. With the price increase I think it's not worth it, now. It's all relative though if all prices go up at Disney.

I find it hard (directions, time, parking, etc.) at times to go to resorts to eat; it's easier to eat at the parks; unless, you stay at a resort with a restaurant you like. To up the prices is another downer.

I think if I go back to AKL again, I'm going to give Jiko's another try.

ITA with this - the soups are definately different, and dh loves soups! So I always make an adr for dh - this year he said that's it, not worth it - the service, the wait, and the meat offerings, are all below par!

On our way there in about 30 minutes! We live in Orlando and it's still our favorite place to eat!

Are the meat offerings not as good now? I don't eat a lot of meat but DS does!

I love the desserts personally.
