We booked dinner at Boma, my mom is picky eater, will she find something to eat even though she;s very plain jane when it comes to food?

thanks

Yes, I would still go. Yes there are lots of things to try but there are also some more traditional things as well.

We tried Boma in April and LOVED it!

thanks! we originally booked breakfast but decided dinner would be more worth it, changed to dinner at last minute. She'll be fine. lol i hope!

I've only known 1 adult in my entire life that is a pickier eater than 2 of our grandchildren. Our 7 year-old granddaughter (one of the picky ones) was very happy with her choices at Boma. She ate until she was full and was fine until cereal in our room the next morning. Your mother should do well at Boma.

Thanks! I was just reading reviews, MOST people said there were choices for picky eaters. Im excited, I cant wait!

Sorry but I disagree.

If she is a plain jane eater then she will not have anything to eat except the few choices on the kids buffet....mac and cheese, chicken nuggets.

At Boma all the dishes, including the meats, sides (like mashed potatoes) and even the soups all have sweet spices in them.
Everything tastes like a holiday dessert.

I am being honest with you. I wasn't prepared for how sweet everything was and was extremely disappointed.
It was the only meal that we hated. And we both like sweet stuff, just not on our meats and dinner entrees.

The food isn't bad, infact if you like cinnamon, allspice and stuff like that you will love it, but if you don't there isn't much left. Honest. :)

hmmmm. uh oh. I will like it, cause I enjoy trying new things and one thing i saw on the menu/buffett is durbin spiced chicken which ive had at food and wine festival and its so good. I hear the soups are supposed to be really good too, my mom on other hand might not agree :/

I also read some reviews where people say they expected more exotic food but this was more traditional with just slight different taste.

I do this every year and stress Ill be there in a few days to find out myself.LOL Im more worried about my mom but shes cool shell go with the flow.

I appreciate everyones opinions thanks

They have an excellent selection of South African wines (I had read that is was one of the largest selections in the US). Make sure she has a glass or two before hitting the buffet and she will be fine. You can always try sending her to the desert table first too.

We ate there and I loved it. I wanted to try to go back next year and told my wife it was one of my choices. She said that she didn't want to go back - stuff was too wierd.

IMO there are plenty of choices for picky/plain eaters, I was surprised by her opinion that there wasn't.

Goes to show you that everyone's perspective on this can be so different.

Great....just wondering why you even asked???

I hope you like it and mom goes with the flow. Sorry but your post just sounded very snippy...."oh well, I will like it".
Just found it to be very dismissive to someone who took the time to not only tell of their experience but to do so as to not "bash" the food or the restaurant as most do here. As people's opinions do vary and most posts are " I hated it, or I loved it" and not explain, makes it very hard to distinguish why, which is very important. Choosing a restaurant is not a right or wrong answer as most suggest here, but more of a personal preference. Therefore I always answer "give me your opinion" questions like I would want to hear, not "it was bad or it was good".

I do hope that you and ALL of your family enjoy your vacation and your meal there. :)

OMG not snippy at all! I love to hear others opinions. I like to "type out loud" and I guess it sounded weird. I always start my sentences with "So, . . . or Oh well, blah bla blah. . Its hard to express emotion in a text and also a post online.

I LOVE to hear everyones opinions. and I appreciate them. Im pretty sure I thanked everyone and even said "I appreciate everyones opinions."

Youre talking to one of the politest people youll ever meet. not rude at all NOT snippy. just sayin.

all is good. thanks again for everyones thoughts on BOma. Like I said I always ask and ask what people think of the restaurants and of course once i get there I usually enjoy them. I rememeber Mama Melrose getting bad reviews yet it ended up being one of my favs.

anyway thanks ALL again!!!!! I cant wait just few more days. Im excited about Boma!!!

sorry!!!!! :)

If you're going to be the post police you should quote her correctly - she said "uh oh" (responding to some of the posts that warn it may not be for picky eaters) - that's very different from "oh well" (which I would agree would seem dismissive of the opinions she was soliciting).

Thank you for noticing! I did say UH OH and it meant exactly what It said. lol It was late last night when I saw this post. and re-read my post. either way I wasnt being "snippy" Thanks for paying attention:goodvibes

We wanted to try Boma on our trip last summer but I chickened out for fear it would be too wierd. Then we have friends who did a commando WDW trip, hitting the biggies in all four parks on a single day. They chose Boma as their only meal while on property based on a previous visit. That told me alot! I, too, appreciate all these opinions. Boma is on our definite to do list for next summer's trip!

Boma was amazing. so good. It was a nice change . even mom liked it. the seafood chowder was a big hit. and desserts and coffee awesome!

We tried it last trip with my mom who is picky. She did not like it, although we did, and she asked for us to not take her back there. Her comment was that everything tasted similar and had too much sweet cinnamon and curry flavors.

While I agree that picky eaters can find something I doubt it will be a satisfying meal for a non-adventurous eater.

Absolutely true; there was not enough to make DS or I happy. I have to add that my DH and DD are both adventurous eaters, but they weren't too happy with the food either. Breakfast at Boma on the other hand, is outstanding.

we were there in Aug with my dad who is a picky eater, salt and pepper are the only spices he knows. He enjoyed the meal even though some of the choices he would not try. The desserts alone could be enough to make a picky eater want to go back.
