So, I've asked Boma questions before. Dh is really really picky and I think I would like to try this restaurant. However, I just recently realized how much of the menu is soups. I'm not big on soup at all. So now my question is, will I even enjoy it to keep pushing DH to try it? If I don't like the soups, is there enough other stuff to enjoy?

Boma is my favorite place to eat at WDW. They have plenty of choices besides soup. Here's an example of a menu taken from allearsnet.com

African Breads

Mixed Field Greens:
Mango Vinaigrette, Paw Paw Vinaigrette,
Chili Cilantro Vinaigrette, Balsamic Vinaigrette
Potato Salad
Fresh Fruit

Pasta Salad
Watermelon Rind Salad
Kool Slaai
Chicken Salad with Chili Cilantro
Moroccan Seafood Salad - Couscous, mussels, scallops and shrimp

Avocado, Grapefruit, Papaya, Curry Cucumber Salad, Spinach and Beet Salad

Macaroni and Cheese
Saffron Rice

African Soups and Stews:
Chicken Corn Porridge
Smoked Tomato Soup

Sweet Potato Pancakes
Vegetable Lentil Kofta
Pap
Braised Greens
FuFu
Potatoes with Afritude

Durban Spiced Roasted Chicken
Malabu Pepper Steak

Grilled Seafood

Wood Roasted Meats

Vegetable Skewers
Chicken Pepper Pot
Coconut Curried Chicken Soup
Curried Coconut Seafood Stew
Couscous Marrakesh

Chicken Tenders
Spaghetti and Meatballs

Wonderful Dessert Buffet including:
Zebra Domes
Simba Paw Prints

I ate their last night. They had five soups. They also had prime rib, salmon, BBQ ribs and chicken. In addition, there were vegetables, salads, breads, and wonderful desserts. They had a wonderful watermelon and tomato salad that I had never had before.

If you don't mind trying "unfamiliar" foods, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Trust me....there's plenty of different things to eat. They have funny names, but the CMs will let you know what the food is or what's in it. I am one of those eaters that always gets the same thing. My DH gets new things. I try his and if I like it, I get it next time. Funny thing is..DH didn't want to go to Boma and I did. Well, we all loved it and are going again this year. Even my 2 DDs liked it (9 and 2). One of the best thing about buffets is that there's other things to eat as opposed to a non-buffet so you aren't stuck with a meal you do not like. I would be willing to bet that you will all like it.

We loved the unusual foods and I know the menu makes it sound very exotic but my two dd's ate the following

DD 1

Pasta Salad
Rolls and butter
Prime Rib
Mashed Potaotes
Fresh strawberries and pineapple (all in indivudual bowls)
Chocolate Tarts

DD 2
Plain Salad
Plain Noodles (they just cooked it up for you right there) with tomato sauce on the side
Chicken (skin of chicken with spices removed inside of chicken just like plain roast chicken)
Potatoes with Affritutude (tasted like a VERY mildly spiced roasted potato)
Grapes, Strawberries
Cheese Cakes

Not exactly "weird" or "adventerous"

Is Boma Better for Breakfast or Dinner ??
We have the Dining Plan added on and heard it was a delicious restaurant, is it worth going all the way to AKL?? And is it good for children??
Just wondering and THANX! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Where did you get the idea it was mostly soups?? :confused3 Not at all- that is just one small section.

Does he like meat, potatoes, salad, bread, desserts? That's what Boma is.

My bf is very picky and doesn't like "fancy" food and Boma is his favorite.

Both are REALLY good. I love the dinner but the breakfast is amazing b/c of the made to order omelets..mmmmm.

Since you are on the dining plan, I would probably do the dinner b/c its more expensive. We did both the dinner and b-fast on our last trip, though.

We just tried Boma and while I am sure the food is good for what it is , it is VERy different. Also, from what I understand the menu changes with the day.My DH is not picky at all, but decided that while we were glad we tried it, we will not eat there again. Lots of choices and goof quality but again VERY different. However, the desserts were to die for!!!!! INCREDIBLE!! :cool1: Just go with an open mind. You will not leave hungry.

I am not a soup eater!! I do not care for soups!! I LOVE Boma's soups. Now how do you like that for conflicting reports? It's true though. Normally I turn my nose up at soup but I tried the coconut curried seafood stew at Boma because my waitress encouraged me to do so and I couldn't believe it!! I actually think about that soup now that I'm at home and am looking forward to going back in July and having it again!

Thanks for the thumbs up guys. I just saw someone talking about the different soups on here and it made me rethink the idea. I've seen the menus before, but for some reason I felt like I had forgotten something important about the amount of soups. Guess not. :) Thanks for your input.
