Hello,

We are going to WDW for the first time this September and are obviously taking advantage of the Dining Plan.

We have our reservations all done, but I was trying to decide between Whispering Canyon or Boma. I am traveling with a 16 and 14 year old boy and my husband. They are not concerned with the menu either way- they are all pretty adventerous eaters. This dinner will be our first night in Florida and we want it to be something really cool to start our trip off with. I know WC is high on the high jinx and antics, but read in another post how "cool" Boma is. Any ideas on which would be better? Dessert is very important to me- can someone tell me what the desserts are at Boma- not sure I have ever had a Simba Paw before!
Thank you very much!

Oh- if it matters our other ADR are for:
Crystal Palace
Chef Mickey
Norway with Princesses
Coral Reef
Sci Fi
50's Prime Time
Tappanayki (I think I spell that different every time!)
Mama Melrose

Thanks again!

Skellinton Molly

two very different restaurants we have visited both with our 14 year old and he is desperate to go back to boma
Whispering canyon - lodge has geysers in the grounds and nice to visit, restaurant is fun and noisy but probably best for younger kids who want to join in with the games.
Boma was all you could eat and the lodge has a "serengeti" outside with giraffes etc that you can view through night goggles that the CM's have our DS loves it here and has asked that we make an ADR for our sept holiday, however both are fun and have good food, for me Boma has the edge. Have a great time

Oh definately BOMA!!!The food there is delicious, not to mention the desserts...WOW the zebra domes are yummy!!We have adrs there for free dining in August, can't wait:goodvibes

Boma!!! Ask for TJ, take a picture with him, he is FABULOUS!!!! *Sometimes* he makes us a special treat.....

Deep fried OREOS!!!! YUM-O!!!

Hated Whispering Canyon - to noisy, service was slow, the food was not the best.

Boma - LOVE IT. We went twice last trip and we are going again this upcoming trip. It was one of the kids favorites. DS 10, DS 7 and DS 3.

So, what exactly are the desserts? We are going to try to switch our ADR to Boma- thank you for your input!
:goodvibes

Zebra Domes....mmmmmmmmmmmm (They are also sold in the AKL food court.)

Boma has very good food and a nice atmosphere (for a buffet). The desserts are exceptionally good, the soups are great, the salads are nice, and the entrees are worthwhile.

WCC has mediocre food, boring desserts, slow service, and sometimes few or no hijinks depending on many factors. It is also very noisy if that matters to you.

Both resorts are equally beautiful (and in fact designed by the same architect I believe).

BOMA BOMA BOMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100 percent with mom of 3...HATED Whispering Canyon..would never go back. Nosiy and annoying...maybe good for very young kids who are into the games...but

LOVE LOVE LOVE BOMA!

My boys are 10 and 12.

When my two were teens Boma was their favorite Disney restaurant. We often had both breakfast and dinner there on one trip. We've never been to Whispering Canyon. I do not like hijinks at dinner. That's the time we use to decompress and relax.

I am completely opposite of about everyone posting. I changed our ADRs from BOMA to WCC last year and am I ever glad I did. We visited AK lodge to check the place out for future stays and loved the resort but the smell from BOMA about made me sick to my stomach. Im a meat and potatoes guy so that probably had a bigger part in choosing WCC than about anything but I like to think Im pretty adventurous all the same. Give me a clothes pin for my nose and a dessert tray in front of me and sure I'll hit up BOMA but to fill me up its WCC all the way. Looks like you already made up your mind but thats my two cents anyway.

You didn't ask about this, but wanted to add my 2 cents about our Sci Fi experience --- It was HORRIBLE -- Slow service, the food was the worst (how is it Burgers differ so much from place to place in Disney) and the "movie" was actually ads playing and a short cartoon.

The Table cars are not very large & if the teens are big it can feel cramped.

Next to the Castle, this was the meal we looked forward to most, so maybe our expectations were too high.

BOMA!!!

We ate their our last visit to WDW and it was amazing. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is unbelievable. They had african drummers playing while we were there which was really cool and if you arrive a little early (or wanna stay a little while after you eat) you can enjoy the savanna just outside.

As far as desserts go, must the stuff I couldn't identify, however it was really good :) it's a lot of cakes, cookies, and pastry type stuff...I think someone else already mentioned the zebra domes which are pretty good, though I think they may contain alcohol. They also have a variety of fresh fruit.

OMG! BOMA! We fell in love with Boma on our stay at AKL several years ago - now it's a MUST on any trip to WDW! (There's a typical kids section too.) But everything is so unusual and so-o good! The soups are fantastic too. It amazes me how such a large buffet can have so much food that is ALL good! 20 thumbs up for Boma!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
