I decided to cancel my reservations at Coral Reef for dinner and thought that it might be nice to try something new. I have heard good things about Kona Cafe and Boma. Which do you think is better? Is there too many funky things on Boma's buffet that it is not enjoyable? Please help! :Pinkbounc

They are so different, I cannot even begin to compare them.

Both of these restaurants were "firsts" for me on my last trip. I really enjoyed Boma for the uniqueness of the food and the ambience of the Animal Kingdom lodge. I loved just about everything on the buffet and especially enjoyed the cold salads.

Kona Cafe was also very nice. The food was definitely more "normal" here. The restaurant is very open and has a bit of a cold feel as the floors are tiled and it is open to the lobby. We had a variety of foods there and everyone was pleased. I felt Citrico's was a better choice over Kona, but Kona was a little cheaper so that's probably the difference.

I guess I would have to say that Kona is the "safe" choice and it is table service. If you feel like being a bit more adventurous, go for Boma.

We didn't care for Boma at all. We thought it to be very buffet quality. I haven't been to Kona except for breakfast. We have it booked next trip. I'm hoping its good. I like the menu.

We love both Boma and Kona Cafe. Great food at both restaurants. Make your decision on whether you want to go to a buffet or a sit down dinner.

We reluctantly tried Boma with family and must say it wasn't as bad (weird I should say) as I thought, but would not pay that kind of $$ to go there again. Kona on the other hand was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!! The Tonga Toast is superb! We went for breakfast and would HIGHLY recommend it. Bottom line, Boma is just to exotic for my simple Sicilian pallette.

Go for Boma. It's great with a lot of different choices. The Zebra Domes are the best desert.

The are mocha chocolate mousse on a white spongecake disk covered in hard ganache. Ours were stale and stale mousse is gross. Nice idea. Poorly executed.

These are my 2 favorite WDW restaurants! It would be very difficult to choose between the 2 -- especially since I would probably say Kona (I'm craving the mahi-mahi right now.) and my dh would say Boma!!!!

We just ate at Kona Cafe on Friday night and it was SUPERB!! Great service, yummy food, and good variety. I had macadamia nut encrusted mahi-mahi that was melt in your mouth good. I also had a very good, but rich seafood bisque. Some of my family had crab cakes, the scallops and shrimp combo, and the prime rib -everyone loved it.

I've never tried Boma, so I can't tell you about it. I will absolutely be returning to Kona Cafe.
