I have an ADR for Jiko, but after reviewing the menu I'm having second thoughts. I'm going with my sister and niece, 12. DN isn't really picky, but she doesn't eat red meat and some days she claims to be vegetarian. We're not on the dining plan, so can DN order from the children's menu if she's in picky mode?

Also Sis and I might prefer the buffet at Boma so we sample lots of different things. This our first trip to the World, so it's all new to us. So what do you think Jiko or Boma?

Our family's done both a couple times. We all prefer Boma. I just don't think we're Jiko kind of people. Boma is fun and laid back with tons of different foods to try. Whenever we plan a new trip, everyone puts it on the Must Do list. So I'd recommend Boma.

Thanks TBDave, I'm leaning towards Boma so we can try more different things. What kind of person do you have to be to be a Jiko kind of person?

I love Jiko. You need to be a bit of a foodie to love it. I love the quiet atmosphere, their wine list is amazing, and the food is great. I'll eat just about anything so it's really easy there for me. Their short ribs are amazing, the filiet is also. I'm not into buffet's at all but that's probably because I'm from Vegas :goodvibes I've never been to Boma but it sounds like you'll definitely find something for everyone there. It is definitely a lounder more festive atmoshphere from what I can tell just from walking by it. :cool1:

Go for both! These are our favorite two restaurants at the world. Boma is the best buffet in my opinion with interesting options rather than boring standard buffet fare. Jiko is wonderful for atmosphere, service, presentation, and the food selection and quality is outstanding. I don't know if I could pick one over the other. Go Jiko for a romantic or longer slower dinner....Boma for a great value on getting to try lots and lots of food.

We did both in Oct and Jiko was so much better than Boma

We've eaten at both many times and our group overall prefers Boma over Jiko. We are going again in 2 weeks and 4 of the 5 couples chose Boma and only one couple is going to Jiko.

IMO when it comes to ethnic foods that you aren't used to, i'd go with the buffet. This allows you to try everything or only the things that float your boat. At Jiko if you pick something you don't care for, you're stuck. We just ate at Boma in November and it was the BEST meal we had at disney. We literally started at one side of the buffet and tried everything. I loved anything with coconut. I haven't eaten at Jiko though so i can't give you a comparison. But Boma will be on our list the next time we head to disney.

Clearly, the Disney Signature restaurant provides better food quality and service, but considering your concerns you most likey appear to need the ability to allow diners more than one entree choice. At least at Jiko you can talk to the person next to you, which at times at Boma this may be impossible due to all the noise.

Personally, we would select Jiko, since they also offer veg, chicken, fish entrees too.

boma sounds more up your alley. my husband is vegetarian and i don't eat read meat or pork and there were tons of great options at boma. it may be a buffet, but it still has a very nice atmosphere.

Do the people on the trip like buffets? Boma has to be the best buffet I have ever seen. A HUGE selection of choices and very good food.

I don't like buffets. :confused3 :lmao: I got Boma and Jinko's mixed up when we made ADRs so our first night at AKL we ate at Boma. There was not way you could try everything item they had in the buffet. The meats were very good which won't help your husband. :lmao: One reason I don't like buffets is that I WANT to try everything which leads to over eating. And then I want to get my money's worth which leads to over eating. :) Then there is the people ahead of you in the buffet like the man getting deserts in front of me. He got some food on his fingers so he licked the food of his fingers and then picked up the serving spoon.... :scared1:

Our bill for Boma was about what it was for Jinko's. And we did not have to get our own food. And I think there are good odds that the kitchen staff in Jinko's was not licking there fingers before serving our food. :rotfl2: At worst case, if they did lick their fingers I did not see it!. :rotfl2:

If you like Boma it is awesome. We just made ADRs for our next trip and we are going to Jinko's three times. :scared1:

Later,
Dan

Jiko was by far our family's favorite spot this past trip. There really is a good selection of entrees and I say make it an adventure for your DN! Not only for trying different foods, but if she hasn't ever went to a "fancy" resturant, it would be a great way to introduce it. Have her dress in her best, and make a celebration out of it.
