My DH wants to eat at either Boma or Jiko on our next trip, but I can't decide which would be a better choice. It will be myself (29), DH (32), and DD6. Which have you eaten at and what was your opinion? Thanks!

With a small child I think I would do BOMA. Both a very good. Jiko is more adult atmosphere but it isn't like you should not take a child.
Boma had a lot of great food selections and was a lot of fun.

Jiko is our favorite restaurant at WDW. Great food, wine list and service. And, I don't like buffets. For me, the choice is a no-brainer - Jiko! (I did eat at Boma once and it was fine, but I would still go for Jiko)

I've been to Jiko once and Boma 5 or 6 times. I thought Jiko was okay, but nothing spectacular. I expected a lot more of Jiko after reading all the rave reviews on these boards, but I found it very overrated. Boma is a must-do for us every trip. Boma is one of DD6's favorite restaurants.

Hi,

These are two very different dining experiances. Boma is a family oreintated all you can eat buffet. Jiko is a more upscale table service experiance. The filet and red wine pairings from South Africa are outstanding and we really missed not eating there on our last trip.

So deceide which type of dinning experiance is right for your traveling party and pick. You cannot go wrong with either.

While I like and will eat at both of these restaurants again, I feel the opposite of F1Julie. I think Jiko is the best restaurant on property and BOMA is a little overrated. That being said, unless your dd really enjoys sitting for two hour plus meals I would go with BOMA. We took our niece when she was five and she was an angel. She behaved just great.

However, as we are planning our trip back the only restuarant she doesn't want to go to is Jiko. I don't think she enjoyed being so good for so long. We were tyrants or anything, she just knew that she needed to be good because of the atmosphere. This trip we are eating dinner at BOMA and Jiko. She will be joining us for the BOMA dinner and is excited to spend a couple of hours at Simba's Cub House while we dine at Jiko.

we have dined at both. i will say jiko is our favorite and would return in a heartbeat. we were a party of 4 adults and tried boma on our trip in december. none was us was "blown away" by the food. it wasn't bad, but it is not a restaurant we will return to every trip. if your daughter can sit during a movie then she will do fine at jiko. plus they do have crayons for the children. enjoy!

I frankly thought they were both overrated, but my husband loved Jiko. The best food we had at AKL, in my opinion, was Mara.

But it depends on what you want. Jiko is an upscale restaurant. You can easily leave having spent $50+ per person (or two credits on the dining plan). Boma is an extensive buffet.
