Boma or Jiko?

My fiancee and I ate at Boma on our last trip and loved it, however a lot of reviews say that the food is really the same at Jiko just priced higher. We're staying at the lodge this november and are wondering whether or not to try it out (we already have ADRs for Boma). We aren't wine people so the wine selection wouldn't do anything for us. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The food is unquestionably not the same. Jiko is fine dining at its best, one of the best restaurants at WDW. The essential flavors are similar, but Jiko is the real thing -- true culinary artistry presented by an accomplished professional chef. Also, of course, Jiko affords top-quality personal service, while Boma is pretty-much a "get it yourself" place. Don't get me wrong: Boma is nice, but there is a reason why there are two separate restaurants -- they address completely different needs.

Bicker could not be more correct. These two restaurants are similar in the same way that Chefs de France and Bistro de Paris are similar. The food and service are a lot better at Bistro much like they are at Jiko. I don't drink wine either, and DW and I really enjoy Jiko. It is pricey, but it is one of the best signature restaurants at WDW.

I couldn't agree more! :thumbsup2

Jiko is one of the best restaurants I've gone to in the past few years! My daughter and I were just saying that last night. If it were here in my area I would be a regular. It really is fine dining.

AGREED 100%! I love Jiko. Boma is nice, but the food is far from the same. I would encourage you, unless there is a specific reason, to try a glass of one of the African wines offered at Jiko. They are incredible! I also recommend the kalamata olive flatbread. Oh great. I'm drewling.....

I dine frequently at both places(4 times Jiko,5 times Boma this year),and I love both. Each has its strengths and it's totally what I am in the mood for that I make my decision which place to go to.

Our favorite place to dine at WDW is Jiko so that would be my pick. We also really enjoy Boma, in fact it is the only buffet we ever eat at. If you eat at Jiko try one of there faboulus flatbreads for a starter. :)

DW and I just returned from our Labor Day getaway weekend where we dined at Jiko for the first time. We have been to Boma three times and considered it our favorite of the Disney restaurants. We love the food and service as well as the look of the restaurant. However, Boma has just moved into second place. Jiko is now #1. The room is beautiful, the service is a-one and the food is "art" at its most delicious. My curried shrimp was a wonderful blend of flavors and colors while DW was delighted with a vegetarian plate of grains and veges. The flourless chocolate cake was essentially fudge brownies to die for.

We will certainly return to Boma on our many trips to WDW but we will mix it up with Jiko when we want the fine dining touch.

I agree with everyone else. Boma is fantastic, one of my favorite places in the World. But Jiko is a totally different experience, definitely fine dining. It all depends on what experience you're looking for.
