We had a 6:30 ADR for a party of three. When we checked in 15 minutes early we were told that the wait time would be 15-20 minutes after our ADR time. No problem, I thought. Well.....20 minutes came and went at 7:05 I went to the podium to check. I was told that we would be the next party seated. Well, 4 other parties of 3-5 were seated before us. I went to the podium again. Again I was told that we were top on the list and it would only be a few minutes more. Another 20 minutes went by. At this point I was getting hungry and angry. I went to the podium AGAIN and was told that our table was being cleaned and that we would be seated shortly. Another 15 minutes went by and finally we were seated. We then waited another 10 minutes to be greeted by our server and have our drink order taken. A short time later the manager came by. It seems that he had already heard about our situation. We spoke for a few minutes and I told him that Boma was one of my favorite restaurants and that I eat there every trip down. I told him that I really didn't mind waiting, as the meal is worth waiting for, but that I would have appreciated being told that the wait would be over an hour. He stated that he was aware that the seaters had made a mistake and offered us a discount on our meal. I told him that we were on the dining plan and he said he would work something out. He came back a few minutes later and offered us breakfast on any morning of our trip that we would like. We decided that tomorrow would be a great morning to try Boma's breakfast.

It was really nice of them to make such an offer. I would have been perfectly happy with just the heartfelt apology, but a free breakfast is pretty darn good too. It is nice to see that customer service and making the guest feel satisfied has not been forgotten.

That is wonderful. Enjoy your meal, glad it turned out well after all.:thumbsup2

I am glad that you received appropriate compensation for their mistake. I wouldn't have been very impressed with that long of a wait either. But I'd be happy to take a free Boma breakfast anyday! You failed to mention one thing, though ... how was the dinner buffet? It is one of our absolute favorites. I can almost taste the zebra domes now!

:goodvibes Hi ... I am glad you got an apology - thats most important and the breakfast was a nice bonus. Hope youhave a great time. :goodvibes

That is wonderful and very nice of them. Boma is my favorite too. I eat there twice every trip! Enjoy your breakfast tomorrow!

I'm glad they made it right. Like you I don't mind waiting but if I know it's going to be a long wait we would walk around the reort a little.

We love BOMA too and it's the first ADR I make for our trips.

While we have never had to wait long for our table, I'm glad to hear that the error was noted and you received an apology from the manager.

Boma's has a Great breakfast buffet too. One of the best that I have ate at Disney. They have their own juice blend and it is good, Omlet station. I wish I was there!!!! I'm glad they made it right. We had a similiar situation at LeCelliar and nothing!!

Glad that you were able to get breakfast. I would have been a little angry with more than an hour wait although the kids would have been loud enough by that point that people would probably have willingly given up their table just to get them fed :teeth:

Sorry you had to wait. Glad the manager made up for it though. The best part of this (besides the free meal) is that the manager was aware of the problem and he approached you about the problem. THAT is what I really consider excellent customer service.

Enjoy your breakfast and the rest of your trip!

Wow, is that common there? Now I'm getting scared! I have a 6:30 ADR at Boma on 9/26 and right after dinner we'll be heading to DTD to see La Nouba at 9:00pm. I have just enough time to eat for an hour or so, make the drive, and arive at the show about 30 mins early.

Wonder if this isn't such a great idea anymore.

If I were you I would change the time of your Boma reservation to an earlier time, otherwise I don't think you will make La Nouba on time. We ate at Boma on the last night of our visit in March and we had a 7:40pm ADR and we were not seated until just after 8:30pm. It was crazy there that night, but it seems to be crazy there every night now! :confused3

My suggestion is change your ADR to a different time or a different night!

Have fun. :cheer2:

We waited an hour in December to be seated at Boma, the longest I have ever waited at Disney ... with two small kids so it was fun, fun, fun. We were a table of 4.

If I were the PP going to La Nouba, I would move up my dinner a bit.

I am glad that the manager made it right, OP. Clearly, the hostesses must have screwed up. We have always had long waits there - we have seen people wait so long that they eventually left - and no one working there has ever seemed the least bit concerned about the situation.

(We LOVE Boma and will continue to eat there! But I do think they over-book for capacity and aren't very organized up front. During the December visit mentioned above, we were told we were next too, only to have another same-sized party called instead. They were using those little pieces of paper with the party name info and it would be easy to get them mixed up.)

When did you go in December, jenjer? Early in the month or later when it is more crowded?

We ate at Boma in '03 and loved it. I have a 7:40 ADR for Dec 11, but I can't remember if they give you a beeper or other device to let you know your table is ready. It would be nice to check in and then explore if there is a wait. Last time my wife and I went to the bar, but we'll have the young 'uns this time so we may just look at the decorations while we wait.

Does anyone know if they give you a beeper?

We were there 12/2 to 12/12 this past December. It was one of our last couple nights so either the 9th or 10th.

We did get a beeper. Exploring the lodge is great fun and a huge distraction while you wait. We were staying at AKL and it was our second time so we couldn't rely on that to entertain our kids. (Yes, it doesn't say in my sig that we stayed at AKL in 12/05 but we did a split stay with the Poly. We had a very negative experience at AKL - nothing to do with Boma - and I am trying to block it out by not mentioning it in my signature. ;) )
