We are staying at AKV on our next trip and will have time for 2 dinners there. We are 2 adults and neither of us has eaten at any of these before. Which 2 should we pick?
Just ate a Jiko and Boma (for breakfast) this past weekend and enjoyed both. We were originally going to do Sanaa the night we went to Jiko, but the bus line coming back from the parks was crazy, so we had to make some last minute adjustments with our ADR and luckily they had something at Jiko that wasn't too late. Of note, Jiko does require a credit card to hold a reservation, even if you change last minute, where as the other two do not. We are fairly light eaters, so we were able to share a flat-bread and the Corvina (since we were paying OOP), both of which were delicious! We did splurge on the wine thoughMy friend who works at animal kingdom has told me that they have the largest collection of South African wines outside of the country itself, so we couldn't pass that up!
Boma is more your usual buffet fair, with some african style dishes sprinkled in and you can find almost all of the same food at Mara for considerably less (at least for breakfast), but we just love the frunch (this yummy fruit juice they serve only there) so much that each trip we go at least once.
Enjoy your trip and all the yummy foodwish I was back already!
We're eating there Saturday Night. Do you happen to remember if wine was priced similar to other WDW restaurants, or were the South African wines more expensive? What was the price range?
I remember the South African wine to be priced pretty much in line with other "Disney Priced" wines. We thoroughly enjoyed the Raats wine.(Hope I spelled that right - it sounds just like "rats")
They averaged between 9-17 dollars a glass, which I think is about average by Disney standards, and it is a fairly generous glass. I think more than half were by the bottle only though. I can't remember what they started at, but some they were definitely on the pricier side.
