Hey everyone
Would love to hear your opinions of Boma
I will be visiting with me DH in March and looking at the menu it seems full of the type of food I love but not so sure it will be good for DH
He is a big Meat eater (not so keen on salads, soup etc)
Do they spice the meat or do they have just regular cuts and flavours :confused3
He could easily live on prime rib alone but it would spoil it for him if it was spiced or flavoured
Thanks all

We just ate at Boma last week. They had Prime Rib out the night we were there, and it tasted normal, no extra spices. It was very good. We were there last year and they had good ribs, but they were not on the buffet last week. I guess their meat selections vary? They had chicken pieces out, but they definitely had a spiced flavor. I mostly enjoyed the hummus selections and zebra domes!

Your DH sounds a lot like me. I am a meat eater (my dh is more veggie)
But I figured with a buffet as long as it had a chicken dish and a beef dish I was good to go.....WRONG!!!
While it wasn't horrible, I certainly didn't enjoy it.

All the meat had a sweet taste to it. Even the strip loin was seasoned and sweet. (that was gross) and I can eat beef any way.
(there was no prime rib and I believe that people mistake the strip loins for prime rib as Disney has not served prime rib on buffets for almost a year)

That said, I enjoyed myself, but it was a "stretch" of my taste buds and I was certainly hungry within an hour of leaving. The dishes were good if you like that sort of food but if you don't you won't enjoy yourself.

I don't recommend Boma to those who are meat eaters, especially beef people. But it is perfect if you like to sample ethnic foods or love veggies.

DH and I took a couple there and they are both picky eaters. While they were polite and didn't say they hated it, they certainly didn't enjoy it. Most of the food they ended up eating was from the children's pod.

While the beef offering is generally not too spicy, the other meat dishes are. Both of our guests love chicken but could not eat Boma's because it was too spicy for them. The meat station is small compared to the very large soup/salad/sides offered.

I just booked Boma for breakfast the last day that we're in WDW.... we already have a lunch res at T-Rex, but I guess we'll play it by ear.

We ate there for dinner in June and I didn't care for it- too noisy and crowded at the buffett
I was able to find a few things that were good but I agree that most everything had a sweet type taste

I could've written this post!!!! We tried Boma in December '08. DH inhaled their rotisserie chicken and fixin's. I went more exotic and sampled all the good stuff. We had great service and agreed that it was the hit meal of our trip!

GO and ENJOY!

I worried about DS the first time we went too since he was so not into veggies or anything exotic. Luckily they have good 'normal' chicken strips on the buffet and he actually found some new things to enjoy. You just never know.

I say give it a try. The only way to overcome being a picky eater is to try things. While they may seem strange at first, the more you try new things the less picky you will be. And please, parents, encourage you children to try new things. Like all bad habits, this one starts at an early age.

I'm a picky eater and I don't like spicy food. I found boma to have great food and lot's of things I could still eat. Our waitress encouraged us to try things new and they weren't upset if you didn't like it. I'm sure your kid will find some food that he will like and if you want to know whats something your kid might like ask your waitress. :)

We had breakfast and dinner at Boma during our most recent trip at Halloween. My DH is very picky. I had showed him the menu ahead of time and he wasn't at all interested. Well.... the day we arrived at AKL we were all starving from travling most of the day. Boma had no wait so we had an impromptu dinner. I reminded DH that he didn't want to eat there, but I really wanted to try it. Anyway, long story short....it is now his favorite restaurant at WDW (mine too :cool1:). It was so good we went back for breakfast and it was great also.

I already have my Boma reservations for our May 2010 trip.

We loved Boma. Great variety of food he should be able to find something. Might surprise himself too if he ventures out to some of the exotic. Its a buffet so no harm in trying! It was noisy though. I would reccomend most of the buffets to mixed groups who have picky eaters and those who like to change things up.:thumbsup2

We love Boma for breakfast, so much so that I convinced us we would love dinner...boy were we disappointed. The food was terrible, flavored with alot of vanilla, cinnamon and coconut..I dont like my entrees sweet. Nothing really special stood out except for the prime rib, falafel balls and bread pudding.

Thanks for all the advice guys. It really is helpful :thumbsup2
Looking at the menu it seems perfect for me and we will be eating at loads of DH friendly restaurants on our trip so I guess I can be a little bit selfish and keep our Boma ADR :rotfl2:

I'm a very picky eater and I loved it. There were enough choices that I found plenty of things I would eat. Even though I'm picky I will try stuff though (most of the time I don't like it! LOL) but I did try quite a bit and found a few things that I did like.

I always thought Boma offered foods with strange flavors but it's just not like that. It's food you've had done in different ways, or new foods you've never had before. DH loved their grilled meats and I loved their hummus, salads, and desserts. And they serve soooo many different kinds of foods, even if he finds only 3 or 4 enjoyable, that's still a meal.

I love Boma and you will too. Definitely keep that ADR!

You will always get 2 opinions here on these boards... but I say trust your gut and "GO FOR IT"! We loved Boma, even my VERY picky 8 year-old enjoyed herself. It was the first ADR I made for our upcoming visit. I just drool thinking about it! :thumbsup2
